About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Succeed in my new job near San Francisco and develop a fantastic network of friends there.
ABOUT ME
I’m an erstwhile English teacher, avid gardener, Japanophile, T cell biologist, active hiker and cyclist, vegetarian, early bird, food blogger. I am tall, slim, fit, health-conscious, environmentally conscious, Socratic, zen, rational, methodical, determined, moderate, kind, generous, and sometimes gregarious but often mellow.
PHILOSOPHY
Man is not troubled by events, but by the meaning he gives them.
Better a patient man than a warrior; one who conquers his own soul than one who conquers a city.
The dancer and the watcher are fools alike - if you don't dance, you just lose out!
Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has wisdom, power and magic. BEGIN IT NOW.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
For a long time I planned trips with various locales in mind: great restaurants, hot springs or hiking destinations. However, I have come to consider people as destinations in their own right, and Couchsurfing certainly provides ample "destinations" in that respect! When traveling, make a point of seeking out those people whose stories, perspectives and advice would best create a genuine bond between you and deepen your understanding of the world. That will be much more valuable than the accommodation itself.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
2014
hosted Kristel Cremers, Bastian Roos, and Toshikazu Isaka
stayed with Matthias Schmidt, Muhammad Yusuf
2015
hosted Brian Fletcher, Claudia and Cesar, Jakob Van De Wiel, and Tommaso Sguanci

Interests
I am interested in almost everything - I like to think about the world on a deeper more nuanced level. I like to play chess. Politics, environment, science, history, philosophy, travel, food, and personal stories are all just fine topics for me ^.^

Want to talk about cancer biomarkers? Great! Other topics I know about are cycling in Japan, Japanese, Asian cooking, and a smattering of history, philosophy, science-type stuff, etc. Whatever blows your hair back, really.
