About Me

Me? You want to hear about me?

Well, I'm glad to be the first to tell you that I am decidedly the most awesome human being you know.

Yes. Others might be smarter, or faster, or stronger. But awesomer? Please. Let my steez be known.

Traveling-wise, my last big trip was to Istanbul! I am definitely intent on traveling much more throughout my life. I would like to take extended trips to the American South and South America. So if you live there, look out for me! I'll be the awkward-looking American!

September 2023 Update:

Man. Hard not to cringe reading everything above. But I am still awesome. 😃

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because, when I took my round-the-world trip in 2007, I needed some places to stay. In New Zealand, I surfed in Wellington and Nelson. There, I met some fascinating Kiwis, who took me around to drink and watch rugby. Then, I surfed in Copenhagen. There, my host was kind enough to spare his bed at night while he went to work, and I greeted him each morning as he returned to trade places.

Once I returned from my trip, I neither surfed nor hosted for a long while. But, in 2010, I resumed my Couchsurfing participation by hosting surfers. I lived in LA, where I hosted many travelers from all over the world. We went to the beach, to Santa Monica, to Hollywood and Griffith Park, all across the Westside, and to multiple karaoke bars. It was good every time.

Now, I live in Mountain View, jewel of the San Francisco Bay Area, with my lovely wife and child.

Interests

Seeing the world, playing all sorts of music, listening to all sorts of music, playing poker, watching all my favorite television shows, learning hip-hop culture, making hip-hop culture, playing basketball, watching sports, playing all sorts of video games

Music, Movies, and Books

For film, I like most everything. Gore makes my skill crawl.

For music, I like most, but prefer hip-hop and folk. Which is why Flight of the Conchords is a favorite of mine.

For literature, I'm not a good reader, but I like books. I enjoy historical fiction that hews close to the truth (e.g., "Roots," "The Source") and journalistic research (e.g., anything by Lawrence Wright).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Soaring through the Queenstown skys while paragliding! Walking through the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York! Touring the synagogue in Budapest! Watching Hasids sing and dance in the pouring rain, then joining in, in front of the Kotel in Jerusalem! Taking a motorbike ride into Prachuap Kiri Khan, Thailand!

Teach, Learn, Share
