ABOUT ME

Welcome to my profile! I am Derick, a recent graduate from the University of Florida. While at UF, I studied history and English. Gainesville is really so much more than just the university. Several years here have made me really familiar with the area, and I can ensure that you have a great experience in this charming college town. I love biking and reading Latin American novels. As of right now, I work at the university's oral history center where I help collect and process people's life stories. I try to take the philosophy of listening that comes with my job into my everyday interactions with friends, new and old.

Interests

Like everyone here, I love to travel and meet new people. I have been fortunate enough to have travelled extensively in my days. I want to continue growing, meeting new people, and seeing new places. I also love being up to date on world issues. During my college days, I studied dictatorships and oppression through both historical and literary perspectives. I hope to go back to grad school eventually to continue pursuing these research interests.
