About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Hello hello.
ABOUT ME
Ok, another online "about me".... well first and foremost I'm an artist. I make tattoos for a living at a great shop here in San Francisco that is only blocks from my house. Im 28 and I'm a pretty liberal fellow. I ride my vintage motorcycle on sunny days but try to ride my bicycle as much as I can. I'm really onto swing dancing.... I don't dress the part but i do try to go once a week.
I'm really good at first impressions. I used to work as an EMT before I was a tattooer so I'm very good with people. I have been tattooing for five years now and it pretty much takes most of my time and energy these days.
I also like to fly kites....and eat ice cream..... gosh I hate these "about me" forms. If you check out my web page www.derickmontez.com you can read my blog and get a better idea about myself.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm not a religious person but I do like the saying " Idle hands are the work of the devil". I cant stand lazy people or people who are just not passionate about anything. I try to surround myself around creative people or people who tend to bring some kind of positive energy into the world.....hahah that sounded a little hippie but but it's true.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A lot of friends have spoken very highly of it over the years, also I have tattooed many people visiting SF who were couch surfing and they all seemed to stand by it 100%.
I love to travel with my job and thought today was the day I made a profile and give it a shot.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Motown. I'm into a lot of different music, everything from blues to metal.
Books! I'm constantly drawing! I use many books with photo references for my line of work and sadly don't have much time to read as much as I know I should. But the last book I read was Blue Beard by Kurt Vonnegut.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have delivered a baby when I was an EMT and gave an 87 year old woman her first tattoo. Pretty amazing if you ask me.
Teach, Learn, Share
A friend once told me that every human we interact with is like a little Buddha. We can learn something from everyone. If it's just for a day or a relationship for years. I like that idea and try to practice it regularly.
I think it's silly to try to express on a web page what your going to teach someone. Every interaction is unique.
