About Me

ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Anna. I'm currently a student and I've recently got my Bachelor's degree at Lviv National University. I study at the faculty of foreign languages and my major is translation studies. I'm also a part-time teacher at International House Lviv and I teach English mostly to adults, though I enjoy working with kids as well.
One of my obsessions is travelling. I'm not a keen traveller though because it's always difficult to find a travel companion (due to visa stuff and expenses) and find enough time, but as soon as there' a chance to go somewhere and explore new places, I'm always in.
I'm also a member of an improv group in Lviv, we're doing theatre improvisation, based on audience's suggestions. They give us a topic/place and we create scenes on the spot. I joined this movement more than a year ago, and I'm really happy improv became a part of my life. We had quite a lot of performances during the year and even attended several Ukrainian art and music festivals.

PHILOSOPHY

Find your place in life and be grateful for what you already have. Happiness can be found in small things, beauty is found in simplicity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love the idea behind Couchsurfing: explore the city/country through its people. Getting to know how people live in different cities is so precious. That's what you won't get on any guided city tour.
I'm not always able to host guests at my place (because my parents wouldn't be satisfied with that), but I would be very glad to show you my native city of Lviv. In fact, I can conduct a tour for you:) Lviv is a beautiful place with great architecture, a variety of cafes and restaurants and friendly atmosphere. So I cordially invite you to explore it! =)

Interests

I enjoy reading books. That's the inexhaustible source of knowledge and information. I love different genres, however, I'll always remain a Harry Potter fan because it's the book of my childhood. Another thing I like to do during long winter evenings is watching films. I can't name neither my favourite movie nor my favourite actor. They are all so different, e.g.: I like old French comedies, but at the same time I'm fascinated by modern filmmaking techniques and special effects, I love thrillers, detective stories, dramas, etc. And I really admire when the director puts all his effort into the film he's making.
When I have free time I also try to spend it with people, who are dear and near to me. We often have guests at our place. And iI like going out with my friends and just having fun.
As to music, I listen to different kinds of music, e.g. jazz, swing, soul, blues, rock, indie rock, electro jazz and electro swing, classical music. One day I hope to learn how to play guitar. My other fascination is dancing, but I'm just an amateur, and my dream is to learn swing.:)

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy reading different books (classic, fantasy, detective stories, realistic fiction) but my favourite are Harry Potter books. The same with movies: I watch all sorts of films, but my favourite actresses are Anne Hathaway, Audrey Tautou, Keira Knightley and Jennifer Lawrence.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've gone to the music festival for one day, and I had to go back home on the next day. I woke up really early to catch the bus. But I get quite anxious when I have to wait for too long. And suddenly, a motorcyclist stopped by and offered to give me a lift. At first, I had doubts, but eventually, I agreed and he drove me home (180! km). It was an amazing experience, and I'm really grateful to this guy, he was so kind to me (let me wear his jacket and gloves, because the wind was quite strong and otherwise I would be just blown away)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English, that's actually what I do. If you want to translate anything, I can help you with that (English, Ukrainian, Russian). I can teach you how to make pancakes, muffins, cakes, etc. because I love baking. I can also teach you some improv games, because I'm a member of the improv group back in Lviv
I'd love to learn some recipes about traditional cuisine of the country I'm visiting. If you teach me how to speak your language, that'll be fantastic. And also if you play some musical instruments, I'll be happy to learn how to play:)
