About Me

I'm travelling with my husband, Tony, and we are setting out on an extended honeymoon this Sept. We love to cook, camp, canoe/kayak, hike, and generally spend time outdoors. Tony is a horticulturalist with an interest in forestry, and I am a musician/teacher.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As we are spending such a long time travelling, we want to save as much money as possible. In addition to frugality, we want to be able to meet other people who are local to the areas we are staying in who can give us advice on places to see. Meeting new friends and fellow travellers along the way is one of the things we are looking forward to most about our travels! Most of our North American trip will be spent camping, so having a place to sleep in a real bed and take a hot shower every once in awhile would be awesome!

Music, Movies, and Books

As a musician, I gravitate towards hiphop, jazz, RnB, folk, bluegrass, pop rock, funk....but honestly, just about anything, in the right setting, is good by me!

I don't watch too many movies, but I enjoy themes of musical theatre, science fiction, time travel, psi, spirituality, mystery....I'm rather fond of movies like Amelie, Cloud Atlas, I Heart Huckabees, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, as well as campy movies like Cannibal Women of the Avocado Jungle of Death. Easier to say what I don't like...I'm not a huge action flicks, extremely violent movies, scary movies, or trope-y romantic films. If however a movie in one of those categories is very cranial (for example, psych thrillers) I can appreciate them more!

Avid readers, I will enjoy most anything, and tend toward themes similar to the ones listed in movies I like. YA sci fi and fantasy is a particular soft spot for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think I definitely got my travel bug on a two-week tour of Greece when I was in college. I was a part of a touring choir that sang all around the country. I loved experiencing the culture, performing in sacred and historic places, and enjoying the nightlife/cuisine.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've taught voice and piano lessons off and on since high school, and I will have a tiny keyboard with me if you wanted a rudimentary introduction to either singing or playing!

My husband is happy to teach others about plants and land management.

We both love to share food and stories, and have ample resources of both.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, good food, good wine.

I am always willing to discuss the deeper things in life, and I am a Reiki healer if a host is interested in experiencing that. I would love to cook for others too, as both my husband and I are excellent cooks. If you have a great spot for an open mic, or a cozy room welcome to music, I'm happy to play/sing for others as well. Excited to share music and art that others may enjoy, so I'm always open to that as well!
