Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to share my love of the world with the world
ABOUT ME
I am in love with the whole wide world. I have a not too rare but likely incurable form of wanderlust.
I love to bake, sew, sculpt, paint, build, and create. I also love to make or enjoy music, I play a few different instruments, often my guitar accompanies me on my travels.
I've been traveling as much as I can since I was 19. I've lived all over the place, from an old rickety colonial era house in Massachusetts to a sailboat in Key West to a squatted communal farm in the Netherlands to a tiny apartment in Kadikoy Sq in Istanbul to a trailer under a huge old eucalyptus tree surrounded by vineyards as far as the eye could see in Sonoma, California.
When I’m not traveling I work as a school teacher and an archaeologist.
PHILOSOPHY
"We love life, not because we are used to living, but because we are used to loving. There is always some madness in love, but there is also always some reason in madness." - Neitzche.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm a long time couchsurfer and look forward to being a host whenever when I stop traveling for a minute or two. I'm a big couchsurfing advocate as well. I constantly recommend couchsurfing to other travelers or would-be travelers.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My most recent couchsurfing accomplishment (the one aside from proving to hundreds of people that couchsurfing is safe, fun and awesome) was to get my mother to couchsurf with me while we were on a road trip.
I've couchsurfed all over the US and the world, and never have I had anything less than an awesome experience. I've meet so many great people (many have become life log friends!) and been turned on to so many new ideas. Without couchsurfing my adventures could have never been filled with such vivid memories of people and their places.
Life is not always been a path lined in roses, but couchsurfing always reminds me that you can still find kindness from strangers even in this crazy ever-changing world.

Music, Movies, and Books
All kinds of stuff. I love to read, my favorite books are desert solitaire by Edward abbey and even cowgirls get the blues by Tom robbins. I listen to all types of music: lots of indie rock, hip hop, classic rock, and world music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
climbing up a narrow slot canyon under starlight to bathe in hot springs in Arizona
riding through the longest tunnel in the world with a Finnish man who had just picked me up hitch hiking in the middle of nowhere in Norway
running naked through pear orchards and swimming through the canals in the Dutch countryside
hitchhiking around in circles in Iceland under 23 hours of sunlight
driving the car through a tree in Northern California
watching the sunrise from a rooftop club in Istanbul
walking for three months on the Appalachian Trail, through the rain, sleet, sunshine, wind, extreme heat and cold with my huge backpack and still wanting MORE!
