About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to expereince all that I can to grow and shape me into a person of wisdom and good character, and to give back to others out of my expereince and life journeys.

ABOUT ME

I've always been a very free spirit. It is hard to keep me in a cage for long. My name means butterfly, and I have held true to that meaning. I flutter around from one place to the next and socially I go from group to group wanting to be a part of everything and everyone. I am a lover of people. I could possibly survive without the presence of people, but I never want to try that. I love meeting new people. I love hearing their stories, beliefs, and wisdom. I learn the most from just having conversations with those that have truly been around the block.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is that life, although hard at times, was MEANT to be enjoyed. Some people might think it takes A LOT of work to get to the place where you are able to enjoy life, but when you simplify yourself, you might find that sitting on the back porch on a nice day eating a popsicle can be the best moment of your life if you allow it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am now able to host after many years of not having my own place, so that's exciting for me that I have more to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with a lot of people in my lifetime some I knew, some I barely knew, and some I didn't know at all. My parents had to travel around for their work when I was a kid. We traveled 12 weeks every other summer and stayed in people's homes. I grew up learning how to operate in other people's environments and how to respect their property and space.
Now I am doing it on my own as an adult (see what my parents trained me for) I stayed with a couple in Amarillo TX that I had never met. They were friends of friends. We sat around in the kitchen and talked while his wife made homemade stew and then after dinner we had a little jam session and played Jimmy Buffet songs.
I have stayed with people in New Orleans and volunteered at the mission there. I met up with some couch surfers in Boston. I had the time of my life roaming the streets of Boston and attending the weekly CouchSurfering meeting there.
I stayed with a couple in St. Louis for a night on my way through and we played Scrabble and darts and stayed up so late talking that I only got three hours of sleep before heading out early the next morning to drive to my next destination.
I stayed with a single mom in Kansas City. In less than week I felt like I had a sister. CouchSurfer's is an awesome community of people!

Interests

I am interested in photography. In seeing old architecture and enjoying nature. I enjoy people and getting to know people. I like hearing other people's opinions and life stories. I like to write, but I haven't done enough of it lately. I'm trying to learn how to draw and paint, but I'm too critical of myself. I love to try new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love almost all types of music. I love anything with lyrics that cause me to think, or feel like they could have come straight from my heart. I like anything with a beat that makes me want to dance. I don't really like country too much and heavy metal where they scream is not too appealing. I don't really care for the 80's. and I hate gangsta rap.
I am a movie buff. I like dramas, comedies, romantic comedies, and suspense. Don't like slasher flicks, and only some sci-fi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think I've done some pretty amazing things, but most of them might not look that amazing on the outside. I was a personal attendant to a little girl with kidney failure, that was amazing to me. I saw the wreckage of Katrina and spoke with many who experienced it. I've seen landmarks, like the Grand Canyon. I've been cliff diving, and white water rafting. I've survived on my own on the road for 8 months and expereinced extreme kindness from complete strangers.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that you never stop learning as long as you are able to broaden you view of what a classroom setting can be. Some of the most powerful things that I have learned have been from the mouths of children, or from people that have been cast out from society. We've all said that we learn new things every day, and while factual information can be useful or fun to know, the truly amazing information is the kind that changes your mind, your outlook, and your very heart. I think the greatest thing that I bring to the table is my ability to love others despite their gender, age, culture, social status, or appearence.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my passion for life and beauty. I can share my knowledge of my own experiences. I can show compassion and friendship. I am also willing to help out around the house with chores like washing dishes or sweeping. If needed I could even go to the grocery store and get some items, or possibly cook for you.
