Hi, my name is Desiree. I was born in the Philippines, migrated to the U.S at the age of 10 years old to pursue a better education. I am currently in a gap year to serve for the non profit organization called City Year as a member corp. I am studying Sociology and Child Development in San Jose State University.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always want to travel around the world to get to know different cultures and different kinds of people, so I thought couchsurfing would be perfect a fit for me to use.

Interests

I'm interested in making a difference in people's lives, whether through small or big actions. I'm also interested in gaining more knowledge and experiences! I've always been a fond of exploring new places (especially scenery nature) and new food. I am interested in new adventures and activities such as hiking or simple lunch get together for a small talk.

Music, Movies, and Books

-I listen to different viariety of music, including R&B, accoustic, pop and a little bit of rap. One of my favorite artist is Jason Mraz.
-I enjoy comedy movies the most, but I am also open to romance, dramas & Sci-fi.
-I've read several books, my favorite kind of books are self educational books and inspiring stories. My favorite author so far is Mitch Albom.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think one of the most amazing thing I've done is befriended an old deaf man in the bus. I treated him lunch and we talked for hours through writing in my notebook. I learned to appreciate the little things in life more from the wisdoms he shared to me. It was the most heart warming life changing event of my life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my Filipino culture background, including cooking some of our good foods! I am also open about sharing my life story and hopefully hear some of yours too!
