ABOUT ME

I make a damn good bonfire. I ski, snowboard, sail. I am involved in local theater and improv comedy. I am a hasher (hash house harriers) and a postcrosser. I am definitely a couchsurfer. If I was an old soul as a child, I may be going backward... I am a traveler. I have been to Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Belguim, Italy). I have been to Puerto Rico and sailed through the British Virgin Islands, I have been to Hong Kong and Macau, Beijing and Shanghai... I have lived in downtown Detroit (48201), the 'burbs, California and New Mexico and most recently Charleston, SC.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't have One philosophy per se.

Make your life a mission - not an intermission...

Openness to chance rather than planned direction has been my way thus far. And from where I stand, it appears that much of the best may be yet to come.

I think happiness (or the pursuit of) is the key element that drags me out of bed everyday.

Practice kindness, curiosity, compassion, risk, and optimistic assumptions, among other things... to create the reality in which I wish to live...

What we see in others is often but a projection of ourselves.

Money, time or distance are never reasons not to do something you want to do. Life is the experiences you have. Make today count!!!!!

I have surfed with awesome people all over Asia and I intend to host as many Detroit visitors as I can -- COME VISIT people!!!!

I have told everyone I meet about the community - and am pretty sure I have converted a few.

I just attended my first CS Meeting and it was great! Warm, wonderful, interesting caring members - YAY Detroit!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Wonderful. Across the board - absotively brilliant. I have hosted a friend from Long Beach, CA - although we met on a different site - she is the one I found CS through... I have stayed with KayinHK, Al in Beijing and Sierra in Shanghai - And I met Vicky in Hong Kong too! I hosted four surfers from Western MI and we all attended the CS Meeting in Detroit for Noel Night. Although Lori surfed elsewhere in Detroit -- it worked out for the best because I got to meet Nathan! Cara came to check out WSU and we grabbed a beer, saw a play and hit Coney Island... Anwar came to Detroit to get a tattoo and stayed for the Chinese New Year festivities - and I got to meet Gy-Om! Leila in Palm Springs was a most amazing hostess - I really do need to go back and visit her soon!

I love old movies. Particularly Mitchum. Particularly Noir. His Kind of Woman... Bogart in Casablanca. Depardieu in Una Pura Formalita. I read EVERYTHING.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Let's see -- Amazing? Hmmm... I have been to the Great Wall.

I bungy jumped off the Macau Tower.

I met Luciano Pavarotti.

I ran a deli right next to the Cass Corridor ( I think it is called Midtown now????) in Detroit.

I have snorkled in Tortola. I swam with the stingrays in Grand Cayman.

I have battled Borgs in Las Vegas.

I have been to the UFO museum in Roswell New Mexico. More than once.

And in Hong Kong - I ate a Vegemite sandwich - to help a team competing in the Hong Kong CityChase (airing on Nat Geo channel in Jan 2008) -- Hope my team won!

Oh yeah I was on a bus in Anchorage on the way to the Mayors Midnight Sun Marathon - and we had to stop because there was a caribou in the middle of the freeway. Almost missed the start of the marathon!

Most recently, I went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland...

And spent Superbowl XLIII Sunday in Pittsburgh PA - Go Steelers!

I got married in Vegas by a disappointly thin Elvis...
