About Me

I'm an open-minded, respectful and generally (!) kind person who is living my adventure so I like to meet similar travellers. I have a progressive mind set and enjoy meeting others who are doing something to help make the world a better place. My bf and I are social nudist (FKK), having experienced it first on CS. and we often nudey conversations more authentic. Check this video for a playful explanation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEKBR9Q39a0 But if you are panicked at the idea, don't worry - just say and we will be clothed!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At a time when 'stranger' is used by some as a term of abuse, and the profit motive intrudes into so much of our lives, CSing - especially in its original form - is wonderfully refreshing! I enjoy meeting interesting, often younger travellers without leaving my home. It seems to me older people have sadly reduced the hope younger people have for the future. In the U.K., Brexit is an obvious case. This Conservative heavy hitter sums it up well. https://twitter.com/jkcorden/status/1073111849997033472?s=12

So hosting is a small way for me and my bf - who shares the flat - to say we don't agree!

And when I travel I see a place with a local's eye. I've made some (really) good friends through CS and other non profit hospitality sites (Bewelcome). So if you are the kind of person who likes to stay in touch, even better.

Conversely, if you send copy n paste requests, don't bother to use my name, make little attempt to highlight what we might have in common or otherwise look like you just seek free accommodation, then no thanks!

If you aren't verified, I'll need a work reference and a photo of your passport pls. I don't host couples where only one person is a CS member - without a separate or joint profile it's impossible to know if we will enjoy each other's company. FB etc profiles aren't the same.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical tastes are pretty eclectic but have a particular soft spot for soul and jazz. Joan Armatrading and Aretha Franklin are my favourite singers. I am reading Happiness by Matthieu Ricard. Very uplifting. This year's best film so far was Call Me By Your Name - a moving story of a holiday romance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped off a mountain overlooking Rio and stayed in the air for 20 mins (strapped to a professional!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I love showing visitors around this amazing city and esp Shoreditch, the City and South Bank but I also like to explore areas (walking tours) and museums that I don't know so well.

I'd like to learn how to cook some nice meals from around the world. Simple ones please so we get to chat too

I love dancing, am a reluctant meditation and yoga practitioner. I really enjoy the arts (theatre, world cinema).

I have some training in massage and am happy to swap or teach you the basics at your request.

Whilst I'm left wing / green and spiritual (not religious). I'm also very respectful of guests' values and beliefs. All non ageist, non racist and non homophobic folk are welcome.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A comfortable sofa bed, your you own room by night - by day it becomes my office so I need you to tidy up your stuff and to leave the flat during the day. I generally host for 2-3 nights. I have wifi. I don't welcome friend(s) of CSers visiting over night. I don't provide keys - ie you will need to coordinate when you come and go with me. No smoking and no drugs / heavy alcohol pls. I like surfers who assist in keeping the shared flat (kitchen, bathroom) clean so if you don't enjoy lending a hand whilst you are here, I'd suggest this isn't the place for you. Social nudists welcome.
