About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I'm an avid cyclist and traveler about to set out on a three month journey combining those passions as I ride across the United States to raise awareness and money for an incredible Tandem Bike project starting up in Uganda!
ABOUT ME
Friendly. Daring. Excited. Hardcore. Analytical.
I love meeting awesome people in amazing locations around the globe. I'm always up for a new experience, but good conversation over an IPA or Stout is awesome too.
PHILOSOPHY
The order in which we fill our lives with experiences is crucial.
Never settle for less.
"It never gets easier. You just go faster."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed seven or eight times in Israel.
Interests
World travel! I've overlanded from Cape Town, South Africa back to Uganda during my Peace Corps service and then continued onward to Cairo, Egypt and Israel after I finished. India and Southeast Asia are next!
My hobbies tend to center around the outdoors: Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking and Road Cycling, Backpacking. I recently fell in love with scuba diving, bungee jumping and skydiving.
On the more mellow side, I enjoy photography, reading, writing, playing fingerstyle guitar and drinking good coffee and GREAT micro-brews.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most recently: I dived at The Blue Hole just outside Dahab, Egypt. You enter the dive through a chimney shaft, drop to 30 meters, and slowly ramp upwards along the wall taking in magnificent sea life along the way. All the while you're suspended over an abyss hundreds of meters deep. You might as well be in outer space! I am now in the grips of a meth-like addiction with diving.
Harar, Ethiopia: After exploring the walled city for two days and falling in love with the people - their coffee ceremonies, khat chewing, graciousness with travelers and each other - I watched as a small man fed strips of camel meat to hyenas... and then I did it myself! At one point I was cheek-to-cheek with a beast packing the power of 7 horses and a jaw capable of munching bone. Stupid? A bit. Thrilling? Completely!
Kidepo, Uganda: As close as I've ever come to entering "The Land Before Time," Kidepo National Park is my favorite piece of Uganda. Poaching has left the park with noticeably low populations of animals, but the scenery - a grassland-filled valley surrounded by jagged volcanic mountains - is stunning and left my friends and I speechless and grinning on countless occasions.
Naukluft State Park, Namibia: Perched atop dune 45, me and four friends gazed in awe as the sun rose. Blacks and grays faded to icy blues and purples which melted to produce fiery oranges and reds. Shadows appeared outlining the perfect and ever-shifting lines of the dunes. Glance away. Glance back. And everything has changed. Our photos look like we were on a computer-rendered surface of Mars. Surreal.
