About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To have a great time, and try to show others a great time.
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Minnesota, USA for my entire childhood but was opened up to the wonders of travel when my brother worked for two years in Japan. Inspired by him and exchange students that my family has hosted in the past, I spent a year in Bonn, Germany as an exchange student. Upon returning to the US, I attended Colby College, receiving a degree in Religious Studies and a minor in Education. I also spent a semester studying Tibetan Studies in Nepal and India. After school, I decided that I needed to travel some more, and applied for the JET Program in Japan, where I am currently working and residing.
PHILOSOPHY
We all come from the same place, trying to attain more or less the same things, and end up in the same place, so lets try not to make life miserable for others. I generally try to follow a Taoist type lifestyle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Probably the most amazing experience that I have had occurred during my semester abroad. My group was supposed to go to Tibet to tour for a couple of weeks. Two days before we were supposed to leave, we literally had the visas taken out of our passports by the Chinese government because it would have been over the 60th anniversary of the Peoples' Republic of China, and they feared that we would see revolts from Tibetans. Instead of going to Tibet, we were afforded the opportunity to trek through the Mustang region of Nepal for two and a half weeks, an area that was just opened up to tourists within the past 20 years. Some of the things that we were able to see and experience were absolutely fascinating, and make for many great stories. Please ask about them and I will be more than happy to relate them to you!
