About Me

They grandfathered my old profile layout from when I first signed up for this site many years ago :) I want to update everything here but at the same time reluctant to remove my original thoughts for they are a time capsule of my younger mind. **Update! has been updated** I have evolved so much since then but somehow always knew that this site would become part of my journey and it's finally time to give myself over to the universe and discover where the currents flow. I've always been a hippy at heart. I come from the little east coast island province in Canada known as Prince Edward Island but a few years ago life led me to Calgary .
The date today is January 15th 2017.

I never did finish university, I attended one year full time and then another 6 years attending part-time while working full time but only ever racked up 3 quarters worth of what you need for a Bachelors degree. It's because I fucked off after my first year and accidentally let my loan go to collections- maybe they'd finally let me have another one now- they sure didn't back then.

My ex of 5 years was in school the whole time- Now she has and education degree and teaches elementary students in Kuwait.

The life that led me to Calgary was the girl I met after- her aunt basically wanted someone to look after her condo here in Calgary- was an offer pretty much impossible to refuse. We were together 3 years, she's since moved back to Ontario, I'm still in Calgary.

I had a great paying job for a while (pipelayer in new construction), then an alright paying job (learned how to paint, replaced insulation/ siding, and do roofing) then a year of living on EI and now seemingly unable to find any job in Calgary, have no other choice but to turn myself over to a nomadic lifestyle for the time being. Life is not all about money, but money makes travelling a lot more fun. It let me take a vacation to Costa Rica with my former roommates, paid for my 01 Cavalier and bought my guitar.

I see my future on the East coast. PEI to be exact. "Mama I'm coming Home!" I feel guilty for having not been there to help my family for as long as I have. I want to help my grandmother plant her garden again this spring, my mom needs a bunch of help with things, my little brother needs some big brothering (he just turned 13!). Unfortunately I've got about 4700 Km to cover.

Assets

- Willing to do odd jobs, hardworker with a good attitude.

- My 01 Cavalier. Last of my money went to my car insurance this month- I've been keeping it on the road as it helps one get a job however I haven't gotten a job and that shit of shit car is number one on the list of things I've got left. Has a weird knock from the back passenger wheel but I just changed the oil and I think she's running pretty well- should be able to make it.

- Expired Busking License for City of Calgary- It's not current but I sound good, should be able to play for gas money on warm days.

-Enough clothes and stuff- books to read- oh and I recently paid my phone bill so add cell phone to the list.

-A deep seated sense of optimism and an ability to find joy in the simple peaceful moments- Especially in the natural world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the sense of community, as I've always thought of it as something I will use the full potential of someday while at the same time be comforted by the fact that it is a bit like a safety net for life.

I haven't participated as much lately as I should have. I've hosted a few people over the years, joined a few groups and always wanted to go to some meetups but never really got around to it. Well, no time like the present.

I'm think I'm going to try surfing East.

I don't have self pics on this computer but for more me here's my facebook page link https://www.facebook.com/devin.george.50
