Hello Everyone,
My Name is Devon. I am a 33 year old Canadian male born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario; currently residing in Melbourne.

Back in 2010 I went to British Colombia to work for the Olympic games in Whistler. After the Olympics, Whistler became my home for the next four and a half years. In my time there I worked as a cook for the Four Seasons and the Chateau Fairmont; also worked as a landscaper and tow-truck driver. In January 2014 I moved to Vancouver. The last two summers were spent cooking at fire fighting camps for the B.C. forest Ministry and traveling all over the province.

Ever since I was a small boy my thirst for exploring has been unquenchable. A passion for discovery and life consisting of friends from many different cultures has perpetuated my interest in traveling to great heights.

My interest in helping others comes from working as a Woofer, volunteering at the B.C. S.P.C.A. animal shelter and volunteering at the Living Room walk in center; a place which provides meals, clothing and other essential services to the less fortune, homeless and mentally ill residents of Vancouver's downtown east side.

The goal is to fully experience the world with an open heart and mind. I want to soak in as much as possible and make friends along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfiing would be a unique way to meet new friends and extend personal networks between those with similar interests. Last year I was in an unexpected bad motor bike accident and must stay in Melbourne until May for treatment. Looking for different places to possibly stay during the next few months so I can focus on my treatment. I am physically capable of taking care or myself. Just looking for a safe place to stay.

Interests

The activities I enjoy include: Mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, camping, fishing, yoga, playing basketball, salsa dancing, weight lifting, gardening whenever I get the chance and pretty much anything that involves being outside and active. Reading, listening to music, playing video games, cooking and watching movies are some of the things I enjoy at home. Helping others makes me happy and I love a good conversation.
