About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world and build an international community of awesome people.

ABOUT ME

I live an itinerant life and get the itch to travel if I stay in one place to long. Since I graduated high school in 2003 I haven't usually been in one place more than six months. Despite my vagabond tendencies I have very close family ties and try to spend a certain amount of time each year visiting my siblings and seeing my nieces and nephews.

I feel very strongly about social/political/environmental issues. I also have come to the realization that voting or trying other means of working within the system will produce limited results and prefer a direct action approach. i.e. if you are homeless, just squat an abandoned house or a vacant piece of land. If you are hungry, shoplift or learn about wild edible plants.

I am well read and enjoy discussing a wide variety of subjects. I also love music and have at least some level of competence on several instruments.

Despite my strong personal beliefs, I'm not judgmental and feel I can get along with most people. I am looking forward to making new friends and meeting interesting people.

I usually work a few months out of the year and then travel the rest of the time. Recent jobs have been live-in nanny, organic farmer, and cook at a youth camp.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Though I've known about couchsurfing for several years, this is the first time I am attempting to use it. I would love to eventually have a stable place so I could host others but for the near future I'm on the road.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed with Mark and the Diggers, a group squatting a piece of abandoned land just outside Windsor, England. They are in the process of building an eco-village there. I intended to couchsurf more during the 7 weeks I was in England and Europe but I was hitchhiking the whole trip and rides were too unpredictable to give hosts enough notice.

Interests

Traveling, reading, playing music, direct action in environmental and political issues, wilderness survival skills, organic farming, crocheting, cooking.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent six months teaching English in Honduras in 2005, hitchhiked around the United States fall of 2011, and spent spring of 2012 in Moab, Utah where I got to rappel off of some cool cliffs and arches.
Fall of 2012 I hitchhiked around Europe for almost 2 months, spent 2 1/2 weeks in Tanzania, Africa, and a few weeks out in Montana.
