About Me
*Update 12-03-2024*
It's a while ago I've been couchsurfing, but my future trip to London from 14-20 April brought back the curious traveler in me.
I'll be there for a participatory video course with InsightShare. I'm happy to tell you more about it when we meet, but here's a little update about me since my last visit on the Couchsurfing website.
In the meantime, me and my partner settled in Purmerend, close to Amsterdam, and had two children! They're now 6 and 2,5. We live in a large communal place since 5 years, which is wonderful in a world that's more and more focused on the individual.
I'm currently working in a ceramic studio where we produce ceramic furniture. I'm responsible for the planning of the production proces, from receiving orders to organising the shipping. Though I'm happy with the work I'm doing, in the future I hope to work with the video method I'll learn about in London in April.
I want to combine the video method with working with indigenous peoples around the world, to give them a voice through video, so we can learn from their wisdom to make this world a better place.

Travel to Come Home
ABOUT ME
I was 18 when my love for travelling started, in Australia. My first big journey on my own. I hope to see a lot more of the world.
In the meantime I've been to Indonesia 3 times with my family and for my anthropology MA research, to Canada (Quebec), Turkey, Sicily, Latin America and South Africa.
I've worked at IDFA (International Documentary Festival Amsterdam) in between my graduation and my travels. I'm very interested in documentaries and film/photography in general, and I made my own documentary as part of my MA. It's about my own Indonesian family history, which I'm happy to tell you more about when I meet you... I also have it on dvd, so please let me know if you're interested.
In South America me and my boyfriend have been filming in the Ecuadorian Amazon. We stayed with a Shuar family, which are indigenous peoples of Ecuador, for six weeks to do volunteerwork. The short documentary is called Spirit of Nature and was finished in November 2016. You can watch it online here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXFFK1x1Jxg . I'd love to hear what you think of it and am happy to talk about it with you :-) !
At the moment, I'm in the middle of a beautiful personal proces of growth and development. Things like ayahuasca ceremonies, meditation and different kinds of spiritual workshops help me a lot on the path of discovering what I find really important in my life. For example, my boyfriend and I bought a campervan and have traveled through France, Spain and Portugal in the summer of 2016. Amongst a lot of other adventures, we've visited the Nowhere and Boom festival and participated in a Workaway volunteer project in Spain.
Now, we're back in Portugal with a new campervan, and will be working in Figueira, Budens, for a while. We're very interested in eco villages, living in a self sustainable way and in nature. Our dream is to build our own earthship one day :-).
We keep a blog if you like to read our experiences and learning process: www.owliesontheroad.com. Hopefully it can inspire you in some way.
I can go on and on, so I save the rest for when we meet!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
How to see a city or country better than through the eyes of a local... I love meeting new people, and couchsurfers are open minded people who have the same passion for travelling and look further than someone's job or education.
As I'm living with my family of four in a small house, unfortunately there's no couch left to surf..
