About Me

I'm a fun-loving American always happy to meet new people! I recently graduated high school a year early and am spending my gap year living in Germany. I'm here for 8 months, and take interest learning about the German culture and language. I have tons of interests and always love learning about others and their way of life. Contact me if you're interested!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My family loves to couch surf and host those who come into our home town, Reno, NV. It's a great way to keep costs down and meet new awesome people. I have already met loads of fantastic people from my family's couch surfers, and now I want some of the action for myself. I have had only positive experiences from this concept. It really is one of those hidden gems in life.

Interests

I love music, and am a proud piano player! I started playing when I was nine years old and haven't set it down since. A few years ago I saved my own money to purchase my first beautiful grand piano! I love playing all sorts of music, but especially music from video games and movies, and of course classical music! Some of my favorite composers include Chopin and Hans Zimmer. I am always more than happy to give a performance when there's a piano around!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Like everybody, I also have tons of other interests :D They include...

[[]] Lucid Dreaming! This is where you become aware that you are dreaming during the night, and as a side effect you can control your dreams! It's a hobby of mine I discovered 5-6 years ago and has been extremely appealing to me since day one. The idea of being able to go to bed at night and spend your dreams doing literally anything you can imagine is quite motivating!

[[]] Psychology, Philosophy, Astronomy, and related thought inducing subjects. I love a good talk about life and pondering why and how things are the way they are. It's such a broad topic that carries tons of material, but I pretty much like anything like that! Got some cool opinions on spirituality, science, religion, politics, or anything else? I love having civilized discussions on those topics. The only way to broaden your horizon is to learn things that are beyond yours!

[[]] Learning. I know this is again broad but anything people enjoy teaching me I enjoy learning. I have an insatiable thirst for knowledge, and if you want someone there to listen to you, I can be there all day. If you have anything you're skilled at, and want to give people an idea of what it's like and what its benefits are, I'll be the first person ready to listen.

[[]] New outdoor activities. I love trying new stuff, and if someone knows a great hidden hike or found a new Golf-Kart racing place, I definitely enjoy coming along. When I'm in a new place I take interest in seeing the environment I'm in, and vice versa for those people who might be visiting me.

[[]] Chess. More of a recent hobby of mine. I'll not particularly skilled, but I love playing a match and seeing the nuances of the game. I won't turn down an offered game to anyone who wants to play one.

[[]] Video games: I was an Xbox 360 player most of my life, until I recently switched over to PS4. I love both consoles and still have them both. If you're someone interested in playing I'm always excited for that! Some of my favorite games are/were (but aren't limited to):
* Halo 3
* Dark Souls 2
* The Last of Us
* The Call of Duty Series (zombies especially)
* Minecraft
On PC: Runescape and Age of Empires

[[]] Lots of other stuff, just let me know what you like!

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:

I primarily listen to alternative and electronic music. Some bands such as Coldplay and Atlas Genius I particularly like. My all time favorite is probably The Glitch Mob though (you most likely don't know who they are).
Of course I also like classical music, like any piano player. My favorite composer is by far Chopin, but I have found inspiration from other's like Bach, Beethoven, and a dude named William Joseph.

MOVIES:

I'm a huge fan of sci-fi. My all time favorite movie is definitely Inception (if you couldn't guess from reading above). Christopher Nolan is a great director, and Hans Zimmer is a phenomenal composer, so it's not a surprise I love other movies like Interstellar as well. I also love Quentin Tarantino. Pulp Fiction and Django are some awesome movies!!

BOOKS:

I admittedly don't read a whole lot. However, Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand, was pretty influential to me. I did also love some great fantasy series like Harry Potter, Eragon, The Dark Tower series, and others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I played the piano for my beautiful cousin's wedding procession!

I was quite intimidated. I was young, and it was (and still is) my biggest "performance" to date. I played for an audience of about 200 people. Of course, I fortunately was not the one everyone was paying attention to, but it still was a nerve racking and huge learning experience for me. The song I was playing was composed by my cousin's mother and it was rather short. I was supposed to play it twice during the procession, but by the time I was finishing the second time around, not a single person had come down the aisle! I was naturally in great confusion. The wedding planner rushed to me and signaled to play it again. I ended up playing it six or seven times before the procession was finished.

Teach, Learn, Share

All of these. Really, if anyone has any one of these three things ready for use, I want to talk!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can perform a nice concert for you on the piano, or tell you about all the philosophical thoughts in my head. I can tell you about the American culture and how it differs from my current home of Germany. If there's anything you need done around the house, or if you need help cooking, and anything like that, I am more than happy to help! I want to do everything I can to make it feel as if my visit is more of a weight off your shoulders than a burden.

There's always lots of stories and interesting things you would never hear until you meet a person, and those are the things I am ready to share and also hear from you!

(NOTE: Unfortunately I cannot host here in Germany because this is not my home to use! However, I'd would love to meet anyone who is interested.)
