I am a person with many facets that create me. I don't fit in a single box. I have a strong wild spiritual side, and also a strong rational geeky side.

Yoga and meditation have always been big parts of my life. I've been practicing yoga and meditation since my mom took me to her studio at 8 years old. It keeps me awake, aware, and grounded.

I'm naturally optimistic and joyful. I am almost always smiling, even when I sleep. I find fun in many different places.

I am aware of my nature as a spirit, temporarily living in the body of an animal. I'm not afraid of a little dirt or danger.

I'm here to increase the light in the world and have a few thrills while doing it.

I love people, all sorts of people, and one of my favorite things is really getting to know who different people are at their core. We can only be one person in this life, but we can meet and know thousands of other people. Everyone has a unique soul, something only they can teach you.

I'm also passionate about learning about the natural world. I love reading about science and technology.

I am a gardener. I grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers at home. I started because I like to cook with fresh ingredients, but now I'm just crazy about getting my hands dirty and watching things grow! And I am in love with all the bugs and critters that come to visit.

Photography has been another lifelong passion. I was shooting sunsets on film as a small child before most people had a digital camera. I studied photography in grade school and college and have spent many days in the darkroom playing with chemicals. I have continued shooting and processing film to this day, although I've also added digital cameras to my arsenal.

It's simple, I want to see as many new places and meet as many new people as possible in this lifetime. I relish the experience of getting to know locals, spending quality time with them, and seeing their home through their eyes. I want to form a network of personal connections around the world, and be a part of their global network in return.

As for hosting: I love my beautiful home city of San Diego and I love hosting people, making them feel comfortable, and showing them what's good! I haven't done it specifically through CouchSurfing yet, but I'm eager to make good impressions and start something great here.

I love a lot of different kinds of music. I listen every day and seek out live concerts wherever I am. Jazz, rap, pop, folk, blues, rock, metal, electronic, indie, alternative, experimental, ambient, seriously all sorts! And I'm still exploring. I love to hear new things. I don't so much watch movies or read books...I'm too restless to sit down for too long without doing something.

I've hiked the Kalalau Trail in Hawaii several times. It's recognized as one of the most dangerous hiking trails in the world because of steep cliffs, heavy rain, and frequent landslides and floods. Trust me, the views make it worth the risk!

I have been all over the United States, spent time in most of the major cities and a whole bunch of the smaller ones. I love to share my experiences with people who are interested in visiting the USA and want some advice, or just like to talk about traveling! I can't wait to travel more around the world and expand my knowledge of our beautiful planet and all its people. I also love to talk about linguistics, food, coffee, and booze. I have learned a lot about the science and cultural history of food and beverages and I always want to learn more.
