About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spinning webs of significance

ABOUT ME

By day I'm a focused graduate student, passionate about my work, but by night love to relax with good wine and good friends. In either case, I'm always eager to explore ideas and share experiences with amazing people.

I'm obsessed with the remarkable stories people have to tell, and learning how different people make meaning in their lives. I'm a cultural anthropologist by training, but my family would tell you I've always been in love with human diversity and never met a stranger. It's probably no surprise then, that I love a day of hiking every bit as much as spending a quiet afternoon in a museum, followed by dinner with new friends.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a verb. Actively engage with your world, and cultivate a legacy of relationships, not things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For the moment, I'm looking to engage with the community through meet-ups, but hoping to expand to surfing and eventually hosting in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to the CouchSurfing community, and have not yet had any experiences, but I'm looking forward to it!

Interests

Art, architecture, food, and all other things that people create to express who they are. I'm also a lover of the outdoors, and a sucker for natural wonders.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love independent film, and generally listen to indie and world music. The Nigerian phenom Aşa is at the top of my playlist these days. As for books, there are too many in my queue to mention...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most unexpected and amazing was learning to cook moussaka despite only knowing travel Greek. It all started when I met a charming old woman doing her shopping in the market on Mykonos. She invited me into home and her kitchen, where we managed to communicate through hand gestures and the international language of food. Opa!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love food and have the waistline to prove it, so I'm always interested in learning to prepare new dishes. And if you like, we can chat about the optimal foraging theory over dinner!

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Greece, Mexico, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom
