ABOUT ME
I'm an American ex-pat who has spent almost half of my life in Asia -- studying, working as a teacher, and traveling. I lived in Chengdu from February 2009 to February 2013 before returning to Kathmandu where I feel more at home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can maybe host visitors interested in staying in a school hostel. I am interested in helping other teachers -- volunteers, perhaps -- adjust to local conditions. I would welcome couch surfers who might want to help out here -- fellow teachers would be especially welcome.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I hosted a lot of people in Chengdu from 2009 to 2013. I hope to continue making new friends from around the world. I am especially interested in the experiences of fellow travelers who have been moving by bicycle as I am also a host for Warm Showers.
Interests
Teaching, traveling, and blogging. I am interested in experiential education and climate change -- especially the theories about the 'Electric Universe' and the possibility of a new ice age starting this year. Here are a couple of websites about that -- http://www.ice-age-ahead-iaa.ca/

Music, Movies, and Books
I like reading about alternative communities and mysteries of life here on our planet. I don't like t.v. but watch a lot of YouTube. It could become an Open University if enough people realized its potential for instructional videos.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My entire time spent in Asia ... more than 25 years ... counts as one amazing trip that hasn't ended yet.
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe in home-schooling and would like to teach children privately -- whether it is English or any other subject. I founded a home school for Burmese children living in Thailand and lived with them for a couple of years from 2006-2008. Prior to that I lived the life of an unofficial Peace Corps volunteer -- teaching on my own at Nepalese schools from 1991-1998.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I live in a small hostel with a few students,, all boys. We don't have much space but if you don't need privacy we can offer a place to sleep and meals with us for up to a week. You could help out with the kids doing their homework or just hang out. Both are O.K.
