About Me

Hello! I am Hanifah, a travelling soul from the Emerald of the Equator, Indonesia. After having lived in the Heart of Europe (Brussels, Belgium) for 3 years, now I am starting a new chapter in Aotearoa! (currently living in Auckland, New Zealand)

I am a fan of nature walks or hikes, yet going around the city, exploring arts and museums can never fail to excite me. I am a geologist so discovering the places on Earth has always been my choice of entertainment :)

Travelling is indeed my true call and the part that I love the most throughout all my travels is the people! It amazes me that in this world there are so many different people with different backgrounds, cultures, perspective, etc and before I realize it, I have fallen in love with diversity. I believe that exposure to different places and people on Earth do take parts in shaping our personality. So, I am really curious to see how your personality can tell me your life story :)

I appreciate in-person conversation than texting, so sorry if I might sound boring or rude in text (I try to sound as nice as I can)

P.S. As I am new in Couchsurfing, I don't have much of Couchsurfing's references or friends yet so in case you are doubting about me you can take a quick look to my Instagram as I am mostly on it: https://www.instagram.com/hacchani

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new to Couchsurfing! My travelling friends made me stumbled upon Couchsurfing, then here I am! Connecting with people has always been the most exciting part of all my travels! Good people and kindness do exist in this rotten world after all :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I am more into calm music, like classical and those songs with deep meaning :) Moreover, fantasy and science fiction movies or novels can never fail to entertain me

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ethiopia - a 30-minute transit in Addis Ababa for a 20-hour Jakarta to Brussels flight🙃
Austria - tasted the most delicious pistachio ice cream in Vienna!
France - got fairy-tale experiences in the city of 1000 chateâux, Bordeaux! tasted my first halal turkey in Hautefort, and eventually discovered an overlook-treasure of Musée du Louvre in Paris!
Luxembourg - from Vianden castle to Schengen, I have conquered the whole Luxembourg
😎
Netherlands - gained a 'walk-on-the-wind' superpower in windy Amsterdam! tasted the best ribs ever in Utrecht! got lost in Den Haag with only my pocket camera in my hand.
Germany - experienced racism in Essen😂 dropped off from an Uber in the middle of a high-way in Berlin😂 got into a fight with an African in Koln (I won though)😂
Switzerland - an overnight trip with no place to stay, yet a Swiss angel welcomed us to stay at her house for a night🥺
Italy - felt like I was going home to Jakarta in Milan! (the vibes are literally similar)
Hungary - explored Budapest until the last bus!
Slovakia - got paparazzi-ed in Bratislava 😂
Romania - spent the night in a bus terminal in Bucharest to catch the sunrise in Constanta for only 2 hours, to finally go to Varna
Bulgaria - enjoyed the summer vibes and catch the sunset in Varna for 5 hours to finally go back to Bucharest to catch a flight back to Brussels
Croatia - my first solo trip in Zadar! very kind and welcoming people! also met my first Couchsurfer friends!
Poland - got asked for my pictures by several tourists in Krakow (lol am I a circus to you?) 😂 , got fined in Warsaw because I bought the wrong ticket😂
Finland - got frozen in Helsinki (it was a windy November!)
Estonia - experienced my first cruise tour in Tallin! I felt like I was hoping on a titanic 🛳
Saudi Arabia - spectacular experiences in Mecca, Jeddah, and Medina (those were all beyond words)
Peru - got paparazzi-ed (again) and asked for my pictures (again) by several tourists and locals in Lima, Tumbes, and Piura (they thought that I was a nun 😂)
Türkiye - mesmerized by the Bosphorus strait and got free meals throughout my stay in Istanbul
Iceland - THE BEST TRIP EVER. definitely beyond words

Teach, Learn, Share

I am not a good teacher but I am always happy if people want to hear my story either about life or my travels for sure! I love to learn other languages (not an expert polyglot but at least I always try to greet people 'Hello' in their own languages🙂) and cultures and surely your story might entertain me in someway :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook you some Indonesian food! however no one can handle the spicy level of my cooking so far so... you can take me to your favourite cafe or restaurant and everything you order will be on me :)
