About Me

Olá! I’m Dhar, from Portugal.. I lived there for 18 years, but moved to Wales to study Geology. Although I love Portugal, I felt like it was time to see the rest of the world, and become a true part of it. Art is the other half of me. I have a deep interest in music and literature, and seek to broaden my horizons whilst helping others do the same. I write, and it's how I meditate about life.
A couple of other things I suppose I can say about myself is that I am vegetarian, and, although I might seem shy at first, like being affectionate and connecting with other people. We need more love in our lives, and open arms.
A random act of kindness is more difficult to accept than a random act of unkindness. Let's change that.
(CS is not a free place to crash, and not a dating site.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to be as free as I can, and to relate to others. Travelling alone and with limited funds shouldn't be the end of a journey, but a beginning. I like being a host as much as I do being a surfer.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am open to any kind of music, but I mostly like indie rock and 80s vibes. I read a lot in my spare time, especially historical fiction, fantasy novels, and poetry.

Some books.. Perfume (Suskind), Neverwhere (Gaiman), Jane Eyre (Bronte), Corelli's Mandolin (de Bernières), The Picture of Dorian Gray (Wilde), Lolita (Nabokov), Jude the Obscure (Hardy), Interview with the Vampire (Rice), Stoner (Williams), The Book of Disquiet (Pessoa).

Some music.. Joy Division, Beach Fossils, Mac DeMarco, The Smiths, Baxter Dury, Sufjan Stevens, Wild Nothing, Palace, Gus Dapperton, Valter Lobo, The xx, Agnes Obel, Luís Severo.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Left this box blank, kind of.

Teach, Learn, Share
