About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Finding a way to make every day last at least 48 hours...
ABOUT ME
I guess my friends would say: I.. am open-minded (in a thousand-and-one ways), trusting (a little bit too much), like story-telling (with dragons in it!), am a terrible dancer (I agree), modest (most of the time), spontaneous (except when I've already made up my mind to chill out for an evening), am a rather good cook (except for anything involving aubergines), an even better confectioner (without restriction), nice (yet surprisingly not boring), get side-tracked when story-telling (no matter if dragons are involved or not), thoughtful (except when lost in thoughts), creative (pen, paper, needle, wood, twine, glue, post-its, fancy words), full of good ideas (I really hope they are right there...), ...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now, I'm just using it occasionally to find a faraway couch to crash on. As soon as I have a better place to offer than my camper, I will (of course) host as well.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Only the best. :) After my first couchsurfing experience in Cologne, Germany, I've been around Netherlands and Spain.
In the last half year I have met Couchsurfers in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, and every time it's been a wonderful and unique experience.
Currently I'm surfing Panama...
Who would have thought that there are so many nice people all around the world. I really look forward to having my own flat (whereever it will be..) to be able to host travellers myself.
Interests
Slacklining, cycling, reading, tinkering with velos, geocaching, becoming unreasonably fascinated with random new stuff I try, ...
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies, not watching enough of those.. but I will. my "To Watch" list is growing longer every day.. damn you, interesting conversations about movies!
Books, now that's a long list. a few that come to my mind that I read recently: anything from Pterry, "Darwins Jim Knopf", anything from Tove Jansson, "Le Petit Prince", "L'Insurrection qui vient", anything from Stanislaw Lem, Epikurs Philosophie der Freude, "Die heilige Johanna der Schlachthoefe", had a good laugh at "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", and I love that odd one from Arthur C. Clark about the space elevator..
Music.. uhm.. tricky. anything between Swing and Minimal Techno? but Pink Floyd and Portishead are definitely among the favourites.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have heard the call of the "Montezuma Oroprendula" for the first time at the Rio Dulce in Guatemala, spotted one of those weird birds close to Lago Yojoa in Honduras, and saw one of their nesting colonies on the Isletas close to Granada in Nicaragua. I was faszinated each time (although I'm not really a birdwatcher at all, usually..)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can try to teach anyone a bit of German ("Standard" or some Austrian deviation of it, of course), a bit of English, a bit of French.
If you have the equipment at home, I can show you some Viennese confectionery. In case of emergency (but only then) I could also help out with some secondary (and above) math stuff. If I'm ever back home in Austria, I could take one or two people to a Via Ferrata.
What I like to show people is slacklining, because it's such a rewarding thing to do.. (Hahaaaa, I just got one delivered to our hostel in Mexico! So now I'm one of the very few people travelling in Central America with a slackline! :) )
Currently, I'd really like to improve my Spanish, and on the side learn a bit more of Turkish and a tiny bit of Icelandic. Apart from languages, I recently became really fascinated with gardening, agroforestry and Permaculture, and would love to learn more about that.
