Overview
About Me
I'm easy to get along with, honest (perhaps a bit brutally), and able to see other people's points of view. I am adaptable and very self-sufficient and independent. I'm smart and I think very quickly. I keep calm in difficult situations. I love to talk and analyze things and can be intense, but I also love to play and I am fun to be around. I believe in infinite perspectives and nothing absolute. I am very curious about other people. It's turtles all the way down.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing never fails to renew and expand my faith in humanity. I'm here because it helps me believe in people. I'm fascinated by people and their own personal chronology - so having you tell me your story in my living room - what could be better? I've surfed, I've hosted, I've organized events. I have traveled the world, entirely powered by Couchsurfing. It's given me dear friends.
I've hosted everyone from the next generation of leadership to vagabonds trying to find themselves. I've met so many fascinating people from all walks of life. All sorts of yummy stories are constantly forming.

Music, Movies, and Books
Lots of movies, I have a couple of degrees in film. Some favorites: Godzilla Minus One, Gravity, Beloved, Tangerine, I Heart Huckabees, The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, A Scanner Darkly, The Up Series. Directors: Sean Baker, Alfonso Cuaron, Jonathan Demme, Peter Greenaway, Richard Linklater, Jane Campion. I don't watch much anymore, mostly good (and occasionally bad) TV on my own time. Don't spend much time watching anything. Music - electronic, hip-hop, funk, blues. Favorite: The Chemical Brothers. Books - again, so many! Favorite authors: William Gibson, Alan Moore. I think the internet has taken over all my reading though. Good thing I spent my childhood in a book otherwise I wouldn't be so well-read.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
174 countries (152/193 UN) and counting.
I've been to Burning Man 21 consecutive times in many capacities. My first year was 1998. My last, 2018. I did large scale things there for 12 years.
I have been to every USAmerican state. Most more than once. I've been to every European country and capital.
Wrote a book.
Finished a masters' degree by the time I was 21.
Seeing a manned rocket launch at Baikonur was definitely amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: Travel logistics, Cooking/Nutrition. Social Media. Branding and Marketing. Yoga. Drugs. US geography/culture/travel. Burning Man/desert survival. A ton of other assorted knowledge.
Share: Organic, vegetarian, grain-free, home-cooked food and recipes. Whatever else consumable I have.
Learn: Everything.
What I Can Share with Hosts
To guests: I can offer a private room with a hardwood floor (no bed. No furniture at all. No pillows or towels either. Sorry, working on it!) and likely your own bathroom.
To hosts: I can cook some food, buy toilet paper, help out around the house, and clean.
To everyone: great conversation, branding/marketing/email and social media marketing coaching, nutrition and body mechanics consulting, flexibility, and ease.
