About Me

I'm a young translator living in Paris (I've always lived in France but I'm also steeped in Swedish culture - on my mum's side). I love to travel and discover new landscapes, people, cultures, languages, foods, etc... and do anything fun as long as it hurts no one.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've never had the chance to do any proper couchsurfing yet, but I've hosted friends from abroad and been hosted as well, and I love it!

Interests

I'm interested in all forms of art : paintings, music, drama...
You'll find I'm slightly obsessed with language - as I speak and work with 3 / 4 on a daily basis...
I enjoy singing, sculplting, drawing, reading, cooking vegetarian curries, lying in the grass barefoot, forgetting the hour and losing my way (what I tend to do quite often with my terrible sense of direction)...
I also go climbing/bouldering a few times a week, you're welcome to join me! :)
I'm into politics and feminism as well (so if you're a misogynist/ racist / bigot, I'm afraid we won't get along...).

Music, Movies, and Books

Kusturica, Kubrick, Tim Burton, Wes Anderson, and oldies like Hitchcock, Eisenstein, Marcel Carné... and I'm mad about old British comedy - Monty Python, Blackadder, H2G2 etc. (they taught me English, to be fair!)
I like rock and folk from the 60' & 70' (Beatles, Doors, Joplin, Dylan, Joan Baez, Jefferson Airplane...), renaissance and baroque music. other stuff.
Books (as it comes...): Shakespeare, Ovid, Virginia Woolf, Sylvia Plath, Flaubert, Rabelais, Verlaine, Vonnegut, Kafka, Brecht, Astrid Lindgren, Tove Jansson... and many more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelling on the transsiberian railway was one of the most beautiful experiences ever!! In particular I'll never forget one mad race on horseback in the steppes of Mongolia - which the local guys let me win :).

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach the languages I speak (and ramble a bit about etymologies), and I'd be overjoyed to learn some new myself! (Spanish and Arabic in particular). And if you're a German speaker, hurray, I need practice!
I can introduce you to climbing (mostly indoors unfortunately), and/ or belay you if you need someone.
I'd be happy to improve my guitar-playing skills as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A couch, a meal, a drink, a guided tour of some nice areas in Paris, maybe a museum on a weekend or on my days off. Depending on my timetable and on the amount of work I have to do, I may be able to show you around a bit, go out for a drink or a meal in the evening, etc. I'd prefer to have surfers on weekends, but we can still discuss the matter. I'd prefer a short stay (3 nights max).
