I'm a beginner traveller from Lithuania. After many years of dreaming about going to different places and experiencing the world, finally I'm able to leave my comfort zone and my country to see what life is like in places I haven't been to :)

I'm the kind of person who's more interested in people rather than places or monuments. I would rather have a long talk with a local person than go sightseeing, I would rather see a local band concert in some garage rather than visit a museum - but if I can do both, that's the best way to go about it! However, if I had to choose between the 'official' way of travelling and seeing the underground scene of the city, I would definitely choose the underground or the casual part of people's lives - where and how they hang out, what and where they eat or drink, what they talk and think about - and how much that differs from my country, or maybe it's much more similar than it would seem.

Travelling related topics aside - I'm a very open-minded person with a passion for music, graphic arts, abandoned places, forests and urban subcultures. I love going to different gigs (even though ska, punk or metal gigs are my favourite kind to be at, a nice indie or acoustic concert are also between the best things to do) so if you're that kind of a person, we're gonna have a lot to talk about :) I'm also really interested in street art as well as any other kind of graphic arts - my dream is to become an illustrator one day, so I want to see as much of different art as possible. I also love me some coffee during the day and some quality beer or wine by the evening, so if you're the kind of person who loves at least one of the two, we're gonna get along! However, time to time I prefer to calm down and either stay at home with 10 cups of tea and a book, or maybe go for a walk in some park or forest on my own to just slow down and relax.

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

I find visiting tourist attractions to be an over-simplified way of travelling - as if it's placing a check-mark on a map and taking home only some photographs and souvenirs, rather than experiences. What interests me is how people live - what they eat, where they hang out, which concerts they go to, which drinks they prefer, what they talk about, what's important to them - and that can only be done through meeting the locals. That's why I feel blessed that a friend told me about couchsurfing :)

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

I listen to a big variety of music, from witch house to ska punk, from pop to folk metal. Currently, my favourite bands are Reuben, Gorillaz, Brand New, Crystal Castles, Basement, Solstafir, Ghost B.C., Sensitives, Distemper, 5Nizza and some local bands whose gigs I've attended in the past few months
I'm not a big movies fan, however, if you're a LOTR or Marvel movie geek - we're gonna get along!
One of my favourite writers is haruki murakami (his 'hard-boiled wonderland and the end of the world' is probably my all time favourite book), a lithuanian writer Jurgis Kunčinas, and, of course, J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowlings :)

Decided to try volunteering. The best decision I've ever made. I can't even count how many new things I've learnt since I started volunteering, as well as how many new interesting people I have met, some of which are my friends to this day.
Ah, also - I managed to keep dark blue hair on my blonde head for half a year before I figured it's way too much work :D

I will teach you some Lithuanian words, of course! Even though I'm not a very good cook, one thing I'm good at is baking cupcakes, so if you share your oven, I'll share my secret of making simple, yet very delicious, puffy cupcakes :) I would love to see the points of view of different people from different places, so if you are up for discussing any topic and sharing opinions and knowledge, you can already count me a friend and expect a beer :)
