ABOUT ME
Hi! I’m a practicing and research psychologist, yet alongside my social roles, I strive to stay a human being who enjoys life. I love traveling and meeting people, and I appreciate how outer geographical journeys often become inner ones as well, leaving a lasting mark on us.

In Kazakh language "I love you" is literally "I see you well", I am learning to See the world (others) and myself well. Seek to understand first, before expecting to be understood. Also, learning to make good and CS is the place for that, I believe.

Most of my time I used to enjoy living and traveling alone, but now I want to change it, because I want the experience of sharing.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I see Couchsurfing as a community where everyone has something to share, and where we’re reminded that the world is full of people who can be each other’s support. I’d love to be part of this community.

I do not want to get to know the places and people, but to feel and experience! And CS is for that, I believe.

Intereses

Lately, I’ve been into hiking with friends and have started running while tracking my sleep and workouts (the 30+ era has clearly arrived lol). I enjoy meaningful movies, good books, and - somewhat nerdily - reading social science research articles just because I like it. My research interests are more in liberation and decolonial psychology.

I also have a YouTube channel about my city Almaty that I am currently reviving (the first video got 29k, I don't know why): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HecrOGj9Gi8 I start to be interested in mental wellness tourism currently.

Lomography. Swimming. Running.

Used to love computer games and cyber sport, now I can enjoy watching them or playing only if there is a company of friends.

Música, películas y libros

My all-time favorite artists are Moby and Burial -- I’ve loved their music for over 15 years. I fell in love with Burial around the same time I discovered Banksy. Part of the appeal back then was their anonymity, though now I’m not sure it’s as “cool”, but I still love their art !

I’ve been into lo-fi since 2018, and I also love any music that makes me want to dance.

I enjoy the writing of Alain de Botton, Neil Gaiman, and Irvin Yalom. Also, as an existentialist psychologist, I’m drawn to existential authors. I also really appreciate my colleague’s writing -- and I’ve been fortunate to edit two of her psychology books.

Was brave enough to change my career and turning my adolescent dream into reality -- becoming a psychologist. (Before that I worked in a corporate and social spheres). And actually, I’m coming to London for my Master of Science in Psychology graduation!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

• I can share my Kazakh culture which can be interesting and exotic for some. Also, always ready to learn about other cultures!

• We can share running and sporty activities together, although I am quite new to that.

• Can teach Kazakh language along with customs and Russian language since I am fluent in both languages.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

My presence, culture and some sweets from my country and traditional "Qurt" the dried yogurt balls rich in calcium and protein that have been chewed since the times of Ghengis Khan :)
Also, I can teach how to apply psychological theories into real life perspective and context - believe me, it is interesting and useful !!
