About Me
Hi!
My name is Diane Garcia. I'm from Arizona.
After graduating high school, I went to Arizona State University to receive a degree in Supply Chain Management. Ever wonder how your milk gets on the self of your grocery store? SCM is the study of how to do it cheaply and effectively.
After graduating ASU, I went into the aerospace manufacturing industry. I've grown in my career for over ten years, where I became a Materials Manager. I managed a team of of over twenty people. However, I recently left that position to travel the world.
In the U.S., we are generally only given two weeks vacation per year. This did not suit my desires for long term travel, so I ended my recent position, grabbed a backpack, and took off to see the world.
Accompanying me is my boyfriend, Paul. He is intelligent, curious and fun to be around. He's a great conversationalist over a glass of wine.
When we are done with our travels, we wil be moving to Portland, Oregon. We plan on securing a guest bedroom to host travelers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people! We've been on the road for about two months, and the best part of our travels has been meeting new friends.
We've made great connections staying with hosts in Barcelona, Porto and Lisbon. A friend we made on the road from Lisbon to Madrid suggested Couchsurfing as a great way to meet even more friends. To find people outside of the sightseeing circuit.
So we are giving it a try!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a huge fan of music and enjoy seeing it performed live. My tastes are wide and diverse. I like everything from pop music to heavy metal. Some of my favorite artists include The Lawrence Arms, K. Flay, St. Vincent, The Gorillaz, Mariachi El Bronx, Jimmy Cliff and Daft Punk. I could talk about music all day.
I'm not a big movie person, but I'll watch just about everything put in front of me. This is more my boyfriend's realm. He'll watch documentaries all day.
My favorite book is Number the Stars. The older I get, the more nonfiction I seem to read. Such as cooking, nutrition or language.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once took a group of my friends skydiving. I've never felt more alive than when I plummeted to the ground.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn how people around the world eat. I'm very curious on how food affects the body.
I'd love to share what I've learned, and pick your brain on your thoughts.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My boyfriend and I cook most of our own meals. We follow a diet of mostly meats and vegetables. We try to eliminate sugar in our diet.
If you allow us into your home, we'd love to cook for you and share our knowledge.
