Overview
About Me
Lately, cooking has been a focus during Covid. My other interests are photography, writing, films, politics, etc. I enjoy entertaining and learning about the meaning other people have found in their lives. My law and court background remain of interest, but I have always been passionate about travel and the arts. I was fortunate before Covid to travel extensively with my architect husband. He died last year, leaving me in charge of a lovely home with lots of character and two fireplaces near a small lake and beautiful surroundings. In the warm months my patio is quite European, large enough for communal meals with plenty of wine. I like to bring together people of all ages and interests as long as no one is narcissistic or a phony. I have been retired fifteen years, every one of them lived fully and with imagination. My city is a gem, well worth exploring.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would like to travel in a way that allows me to be a part of the real life of places, connected to kind and interesting people. In fact, I would be delighted to be a home chef during my travels, shopping for the best of the local foods to contribute to the table. I would benefit from inside information about what a locality has to offer. Because I like to write and photograph, I would combine travel with creative journalism.
Interests
I do not pretend to be at the highest level of any of my interests, maybe a dilettante but in the best sense of loving what is creative and fun and delightful in the arts and in engagement with the world. Travel is best in the sense of meeting people, having meals with them, learning from them, and giving/receiving what people have in their hearts, what they carry with them that makes them who they really are.

Music, Movies, and Books
Classical such as the clarinet concerto of Mozart, folk music, ballads and show tunes, country music, Irish singing etc. Whatever makes you feel really alive and connected to people's lives. Movies: foreign films, Lawrence of Arabia, Opera in movie theatres, endless classics. Books: Great Gatsby, biographies, travel writing, short stories.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Recently I saved a life: a man of 34 years that needed someone to confide in, to set his direction, to accept the enormity of his talent and the solidarity of his family. He began to pour his talent into songs of amazing intelligence and beauty. I would like to have credit for his promising future.
