About Me

I've always wanted to travel and now that my children are grown up it's finally my chance to do so. The world is so much more open than it was 30 years ago (pre-children), I can't wait to see it all.
I like talking to people, both about my own interests and hearing about other peoples lives. You may think you're just an average everyday person but to me you're an exotic new species whose life I can't imagine. The thought of visiting your country and learning about your culture is so exciting to me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Sites like this allow you to experience so much more of a culture than you would in a hotel or on a tour.. I love the thought of staying with people rather than in a hotel and experiencing other ways of life. Plus like most people on Couchsurfing I'm on a tight budget and want to see everything I can on my trip.
When I come back from my trip, hosting other people will be a great way to continue to have that whole travel experience.

Interests

Geocaching, genealogy, history, travelling, reading, meeting people, trying new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading, mostly science fiction but also the occasional mystery.
I watch movies as a form of escapism which means I watch a lot of so-called 'junk movies'. I don't watch horror or thrillers. Love romance, comedies, musicals.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Many years ago I got to ride in the engine compartment of a train with the driver. I was running to catch the train and it was just pulling out and the driver opened his door and told me to jump in so I did. It was an hour's ride to my destination and he pointed out a couple of interesting sights along the way.
This may not seem like a big deal but it's always stayed with me, I don't know anyone else who's done it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Yes to all of the above. I love teaching people things, it's such a satisfying thing to do.
I love learning because I like knowing things, especially random information that makes people look at you and say "How on earth do you know that?!"
Everything is better shared, except chocolate. I can enjoy my chocolate perfectly well without sharing it at all :p

Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States
