About Me

I was born in Kazakhstan, raised in California, and I must see the world! Pretty places with lots of beaches like Goa, mysterious shamanic places like Peru, sometimes chilly places like St. Petersburg and places with good food and wine like Tbilisi. Finally I take the opportunity to travel to Europe with my soulmate Aida! Meeting new people is not very easy for me, but the more rewarding when we find rapport! I also like to just get lost in nature and experience myself as a quirk in the fabric of nature, of the consciousness underlying perceived reality. Art frees!! I don't care how technology works.

"But still existence for us is a miracle. In one hundred places it is still the source. A playing of absolute forces that no one can touch who has not knelt down in wonder." - Rilke

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC! (unusual first)
Subcarpati! Polish Ambassador! Grimes(Art Angels)! Cloud Cult! Jens Buchert. Morcheeba. Thievery Corporation. Fingers in the Noise, Devendra Banhart, Tame Impala, Yoav, Blockhead...
Tom Waits, Transglobal Underground, Dead Can Dance, Dreadzone(360), Orb, Ugress, Royksopp, NIN, MSI, Radiohead, Doors, Beatles, Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Deep Purple, Michael Jackson, Credence Clearwater, Blue Oyster Cult, T.Rex, Jimi Hendrix

MOVIES: Recently I've really liked I-origins.
Dead Poet's Society is a must-see.
Fellini is the entertainer!
Antonioni is the seducer.

Well you know Requiem for a Dream, Fear and Loathing, Fight Club, Donnie Darko and all that stuff, but my favorite director is Michelangelo Antonioni, who made my favorite film called Zabriskie Point (1969) about a hippie couple in the surreal Death Valley. He also made Blow Up, 1970, which is about a hip, somewhat libertine photographer in London who runs into a strange story on one of his rolls of film. Also I really liked Performance, 1970, with Mick Jagger. A young, completely masculine gangster figure is forced to hide out with a recluse playboy and ex rock star Mick and his hippie girlfriends. It's remarkably thought provoking.

BOOKS: Really into Hesse and Rilke now.
Past reading:
(nonfiction): (psych): Stanislav Grof. C.G.Jung, E.F.Edinger, M.-L.von Franz, E.Neumann, A.Mindell... (anthopology): M.Eliade, J.Cambell... Tom Wolfe! haha (eastern philosophy): Tao te Ching, Chuang Tzu, Lieh Tzu, I-Ching, Zen Mind Beginner's Mind, The Way of Zen, Zen in the Art of Archery... (philosophy): Nietzsche, Emerson (Thoreau not so much)... (literature): Steinbeck [favorite: Graphes of Wrath] Salinger [Catcher in the Rye] Dostoyevsky [fav: The Idiot] H.Hesse [fav: Narcissus and Goldmund, Damien] Goethe [fav: Iphigenia] Homer [Odessey] Ovid [Metamorphoses]

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

drove around California Merry Pranksters style (a series of long stories from my as-if-past-life)
Peru was amazing. Both mystically and stylistically. Just being there and touching the rocks... some of the most amazing things are beyond words... but of course I've had sex while skydiving and stuff like that, too =)))
