About Me

I'm an undergraduate student getting a major in English. Currently, I'm an Erasmus student in Zagreb, Croatia, where I also study English language and Literature.

I'm really interested in travelling and knowing new cultures and meeting new people. I've always wanted to go around the world and now that I've started I realized it is really my thing. The best thing I found out about travelling: what makes a place awesome is not only the place itself, but the people you are with and the people you meet along the road. So I guess couch surfing is an excellent way to get cool people together.

All in all, I'm an easy going guy, who likes to have nice conversations and good times with nice people. I try very hard to have no prejudices and every day I work on opening my mind more and more and learn from those around me. I believe respect can win any difference there might be between people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first experienced something like Couchsurfing when I hosted people at my place in Brazil. From then on, I've wanted to get to know more and more people and places, as well.

I believe people and the social exchange that happens between us can teach you more than any college or book. So, yeah, I'm one of those who believe humans are social beings who learn from interactions in a very efficient way.

So that's it, I'm on Couchsurfing to meet people, make friends, get to know places through locals' guidance and eyes and make life worth living.

Interests

I like cooking, and I'm kinda good at it, as long as Brazilian dishes are concerned, haha. But I'm willing to master the skill and learn more about it.

Music enchants me, in many of its forms, from classical to rock and pop. So learning about new music, getting to know people's taste and local music trends is a very fun idea to me.

I'm not the sports type, but I'm totally in for watching sports and rooting, especially with company and beer, which is, by the way, one of my acquired tastes. I love trying beer, appreciating it and other drinks too.

Discussing ideas and philosophies is not a must for me, but it is totally welcome if the person also believes in constructive philosophical debates.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like blues and soul, Etta James and Sam Cooke being my favorite ones. I also enjoy pop music, some rock and mostly love knowing about new music and expanding my tastes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dipping into the freezing water of the ocean in The Hague with other 20.000 crazy people on the first day of January, 2016, as part of the famous dutch tradition, the Scheveningen New Year’s Dive.

I consider my job in Critical Language Teaching in Brazil one of the most fascinating things I've done. Debating social issues with my students and aiming at social change through language use is one of my most passionate beliefs in life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English and Portuguese, since I'm pretty fluent in both languages, and I love learning languages, comparing them and allowing myself be fascinated by how differently (and also similarly) people communicate around the world.

I can also teach how to cook some Brazilian dishes, and am totally in for learning it, as well. I also have some really nice stories to tell and experiences to share.
