About Me

Hi there! My name’s Diego, I’m 28 years old and I’m from Uruguay. Let me introduce myself by telling you a thing or two about me. I finished Uni last year (in 2015 - B.A. in International Studies) and I quit my job, at a commodity trading company, April 2016. The reason? Have you ever felt like something was missing? Well, after I started being able to travel the world (either on the job or on holidays) I realized there was so much to see, learn and experience. Since I was in highschool I’ve always wanted to leave Uruguay, but never quite sure where to go. So this is where my adventure begins. My plan is to travel around the world getting to experience new cultures and meet amazing people by learning as most new things as I’m able to. I’m proactive, eager to learn, easygoing, I love cooking (and I’m quite good at it!), don’t mind cleaning, and laugh a lot.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was told several times by basically everyone I know that i should be on this app, why? I love socializing, meeting new people, getting to learn something from everyone I know, and hopefully teach something as well :)
I would very much like to experience the world through its locals, so i think Couchsurfing is definitely a beautiful tool to do so.
Since right now I am travelling I am not able to host anyone, but as soon as I settle down, i can't wait to host :)

Interests

One of the things I love the most in life is cooking! I eat basically everything and love trying new things. Music is what gets me going everyday - love electronic music to listen and dance (I’m crazy for dancing). I really enjoy music festivals as well as festivals in general (food, wine, movies, fashion, etc).
Any type of activity that involves interaction with people is of my interest, considering i just really enjoy meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - electronic (Solomun, Richie Hawtin, Metodi Hristov, Eelke Kleijn), electro pop, rock, indie rock, metal (huge Nightwish fan).
Movies - everything horror/terror, SciFi mostly related to witchcraft or Armageddon, comedy, action, psychological thriller (don’t like epic movies, war movies, documentaries nor musicals).
Books - developing a taste for reading, Hitchens and Hawking lover.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mmmm it took me a couple minutes to get to this one...However i would have to say that the most amazing thing I’ve done was quitting my job and Uruguayan life, to decide to travel the world. Why? Because is something i had wanted for over a decade and it has almost been the most life changing single action I’ve ever taken.

Teach, Learn, Share

Language/cooking/any type of personal skills - I’ve been an English teacher for 5 years and i love teaching/sharing.
Would love to learn anything new, out of my scope of knowledge - I'm always eager for learning.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love sharing my life experience, my cooking and language skills and ideas. Basically any type of enriching conversation that can go for hours.
