About Me
Hello there! I'm Diego, a 25-year-old traveler from Chile.
My journey led me to Australia, where I've spent the past 10 months exploring and working various jobs along the east coast. I recently completed my 88 days of regional work, and now I'm eager to settle down in the Gold Coast before I return to Chile at the end of October.
I'm a very easy-going guy who enjoys a diverse range of interests, including reading, cooking and eating nice meals, running, hitting the gym, soaking up the sun by the ocean, and meeting new people. During my time in Australia, I've had the pleasure of getting to know locals and fellow travelers, and I'm excited to continue making these connections through Couchsurfing.
For the next six weeks, I'll be working a cleaning job in Burleigh Waters and dedicating time to training at CrossFit Currumbin, so my schedule is pretty packed. I'm a reliable and tidy guest who respects others' spaces and belongings.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm turning to Couchsurfing because, for me, it embodies the essence of travel - the opportunity to connect with diverse individuals, learn from their experiences, and create meaningful connections.
While my Australian adventure has been incredible, it's the people I've met along the way who have truly enriched my journey. Couchsurfing allows me to continue this immersive and authentic travel experience by staying with locals, sharing stories, and making good memories.
I believe in the power of colaboration and community, and I'm excited to both contribute to and benefit from the spirit of Couchsurfing as I get started on the next chapter of my adventure here in the Gold Coast.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a deep passion for music, particularly favoring reggae and tech-house as my favorite genres. Music is an integral part of my daily life, and I find great joy in both singing and playing the guitar to its rhythms.
While I don't indulge in movies frequently, I recently had the chance to watch a film titled "Hunger." This movie left a profound impact on me, as it beautifully conveys essential life lessons about career development, the significance of humility over ego, and the importance of staying connected to one's family and personal values, regardless of the successes one may achieve in their career.
When it comes to literature, my all-time favorite book is "The Alchemist." I immersed myself in this read about a month ago, and it has left a lasting impression on my perspective. It taught me the invaluable lesson of seeking the positives in life's journey and the profound belief that everything, be it good or bad, unfolds for a purpose and ultimately contributes to our personal growth and well-being.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2017, I had the incredible opportunity to represent Chile in the Under 20s Rugby World Cup. This experience marked a significant milestone in my life, bringing closure to a chapter that had begun during my formative years when I first started playing rugby in high school.
Following my participation in the World Cup, I faced a challenging setback due to a severe wrist injury. This unfortunate turn of events led me to make a pivotal transition to CrossFit, where I've dedicated myself to training and competing extensively.
Fast forward to April 2022, I embarked on a new journey as a Personal Trainer. To this day, I find immense fulfillment in assisting others on their journey to improve their physical and mental well-being. I firmly believe that the work I do not only enhances their fitness but also has a positive ripple effect, influencing their relationships, self esteem and careers in a meaningful way.
Teach, Learn, Share
Beyond imparting knowledge, I would describe myself as an individual who lives by transparency and humility. While I do enjoy sharing my own stories, I find even greater joy in actively listening to what others have to say and share. I approach each encounter with the belief that every person I meet holds unique wisdom, and I remain open to the valuable lessons that can be obtained from their life experiences.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Thanks to my experiences in rugby, travelling and personal training, I can offer hosts a unique combination of qualities.
My disciplined approach and dedication to sports have instilled values such as responsibility, perseverance, and teamwork, which are essential in any interaction.
Moreover, as a personal trainer, I am well-versed in helping individuals achieve their physical and mental goals, allowing me to positively contribute to the household dynamic and create a supportive and motivating environment. My passion for music, reading, and my openness to new experiences will also enrich any interaction, as I am always eager to share, learn, and grow alongside others.
In addition to my background in sports and personal training, I'm known for being exceptionally clean and tidy, which contributes to a harmonious living environment. I believe in maintaining a well-organized and respectful space, ensuring that I leave things better than I found them. My love for cooking and eating clean foods is also a part of who I am, and I'm always willing to share culinary experiences with my hosts, if they're interested, creating opportunities for enjoyable and memorable moments together.
