About Me

I'm a history student from Mexico who deeply enjoys traveling, meeting people from all around the world, making genuine friendships and adventure. I've worked in different stuff up to now (from fruit picking to community managing). I'm currently working as a cook in a Guatemalan restaurant and am interested in studying the history of police and military institutions.

I'm usually extremely short on free time, so whenever I have some of it I try to use it as best as I can, either drawing, writing, playing and listening to all kinds of music, chilling with/taking care of my friends, etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In overall terms, to meet cool people from all around and for creating meaningful experiences while sharing time with them. As cliched and dull as it may sound, I do believe that life -as well as traveling, for that matter- is mainly about the people we meet and what we're able to build -and destroy- with them.

In specific terms, a lifelong friend of mine and myself are planning on taking a trip to the Balkans these coming weeks and we decided to use this platform instead of doing it the conventional way through hotel/motel booking and so on.

Music, Movies, and Books

All kinds of stuff. From Secret Chiefs 3 to Daddy Yankee and Camille Saint Saëns

Toy Story, La clase obrera va al paraíso, Hereditary

Cosas que hacen BUM, The many headed hydra, Caliban and the Witch

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travel to Canada with two of my best and closest friend to do some fruit picking and travel around from small town to small town. We did most of out travels through hitchhiking, which also allowed us to meet amazing people -although for a brief amount of time-.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach/share some knowledge and skills which involve:
-cooking! (specially Mexican/Guatemalan cuisine [different kinds of tamales [sweet or salty, vegan, vegetarian or with meat], soups and stews, mainly]). I'm always excited to learn how to prepare different dishes and taste the nuances of regional-local cooking.
-language (English, Spanish and French). I'd be happy to speak any of these in order to help the people I/we'll meet for practice purposes (or just for the plain pleasure of speaking them).
-history/politics. I'm always up for having a nice talk around policial/historical topics (mainly concerning contemporary history).
-exchanging art/sharing art techniques. I'm also constantly interested in seeing-hearing-experiencing vernacular-friend produced-local art and exchanging tips and techniques.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A deep sense of thankfulness which would be expressed through: sharing time, energy and food. All the activities/skills mentioned in the slot above (language, cooking, history, art, etc.). My remarkably good humor -if I don't happen to wake up sad that given day haha-. In general terms, my friendship.
