About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Gather stories... For you and for me.

ABOUT ME

Hello there! My name is Diego. I was born in Lima, Perú, where I studied Journalism in the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP, in Spanish). I got married early this year and live with Ania, my Polish wife, in Warsaw, Poland. I'm interested in literature, cinema, journalism, languages, and photography. I believe that everything is a story and my life must be engaged to writing. I also consider audiovisual narrative as a way of living. I love watching movies with friends. A night out is good for me, but I'm also into partying at home. I can be really quiet also, at the begining. I really enjoy having nice or deep conversations with friends while drinking or eating. I'm a vegetarian since 2005. People say I'm funny or a bit looney. I would say I just overtalk sometimes.

PHILOSOPHY

What can I say? I think I don't have a religion, but I believe in God. I'm also a vegetarian since 2005.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I don't live exactly in Warsaw, we (my wife and I) live in Jabłonna, a neighbout city kinda close, like 45 min to the center. Anyways, I wouldn't recommend staying with us because is far away, but if you are in the city and need help I guess we could squeeze you in somehow. And well, mostly I want to use Couchsurfing to find places to stay for trips in the near future... And when I'll be back to Perú, I can show you around the city of Lima and maybe even host you in my house!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've discovered Couchsurfing thanks to some friends from Finland and France I've met in my homeuniversity. I haven't really used it before, back in Lima, but I had host people in my house, friends from Finland, Sweden, Colombia, Argentina and Chile that were my friends or of my sisters. It has always been a nice and enriching experience. Then when I was living in Finland I did give my place in a couple of ocassions. I think Couchsurfing is really helpful in many ways so I'm willing to learn more and get to know people and places through this.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's so much that I never know how to answer. If you add 'comic' to that, then you have my four favourite things in the universe... We could talk about this for hours!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen the dawn in Tres Cruces, Cusco. The dome of a church illuminated by the moonlight in Vilnius, it was just beautiful. I've met by chance Hugh Grant in Catherine's Palace, St. Petersburg and got threatened by his bouncer because my friend wanted a picture. I've made photography and radio workshops for patients of mental hospitals in Lima... I fell down through a hill in Whitefish, Montana, while skiing and tore up my ligaments. I went to a rock tour with three Finnish bands and it was just pure madness... I may recall more when we meet!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some Spanish, my mother tongue. If you come to Warsaw I guess we could go bars, show you around, give you advice. Also if you happen to be in Lima by the time I'm there, I can tell you everything about my city and teach you Peruvian slang and expressions. I'm always pretty curious about a country's reality and culture, also language and expressions so I guess I will ask you about all these all the time.
