About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Taking a long overdue "gap half-year". Travelling the world, meeting interesting people, learning about different cultures, doing something new everyday. Have fun..

ABOUT ME

Hi, we are a couple who absolutely LOVE to travel, meet new people, learn about different cultures and we very much enjoy tasting various cuisines!

We are both very keen on the "great outdoors" - hiking, rollerblading, cycling, swimming...would love a chance to try kayaking, tandem parachute jumping, flying a plane....basically anything that gets us out and about :-)
Architecture and sightseeing gets us interested, too.

My husband Rayno is from South Africa (Johannesburg),I am from the Czech Republic (Prague) and we have been living in England for about 10 years (time flies).

We are finally MAKING OUR DREAM HAPPEN and we are embarking on a 6-month long travelling adventure, starting in Russia and making our way through Asia and over to Australia. Papua New Guinea is on our list as well :-)

PHILOSOPHY

Carpe diem.
Make the most of what you have, embrace your personal experiences, appreciate where you have come from and what you have accomplished.
Enjoy life with friends and family, be open-minded and never stop discovering the world we live in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Keen to surf, since we won't have anywhere to host for quite some time. Would like to get a glimpse of other people's lives and different cultures. The world is an amazing place and there are some great people to share it with.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted a couple from Denmark and a girl from Canada. It was really interesting finding out about their lives, their studies, their countries. It is quite incredible how much you can learn about someone in 2/3 days, especially over a cheese board & wine at 1am :-) Definitely a great first experience of couchsurfing.

Interests

Mainly hiking, cycling, rollerblading. Walking around old towns and discovering new places.

Food is a huge passion.

Psychology - interested in people in general - behaviours, thoughts, experiences...

Learning about life and how to make the most of the short time we have on Earth.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For Rayno the most recent amazing thing was to go bungee jumping from the top of the cooling towers in Soweto, South Africa.
We went shark-diving in Knysna and I went crocodile diving, which was scary, but awesome.
