About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Appreciate what was rather than wishing and dwelling on what may be

ABOUT ME

I`m still trying to figure myself here, so it is a bit difficult to find the right words. My name is pronounced like the latin phrase Carpe Diem, and I think I was rightfully named.

I like to smile, it makes me feel good about myself. I love to eat and try new foods, so one of my mission in life is to eat my way around the world. I find that yoga has helped me find the person that I am starting to become, it brings me peace of mind.

I can be very charming and talkative, but sometimes I like to just sit back and observe. I love to travel, but the people that I meet along the way are the most intriguing part and why I have fallen in love with it. I`m a huge contradiction at times.

I believe that everyone is inherently good. If you speak french, you have my heart. I can go on forever and still not come to any real description of who I am so meet me and find out!

PHILOSOPHY

We all have the tendency to struggle in our bodies and in our minds. We believe that happiness is possible only in the future. The realization that we have already arrived, that we don't have to travel any further, that we are already here, can give us peace and joy. The conditions for our happiness are already sufficient. We only need to allow ourselves to be in the present moment, and we will be able to touch them. What are we looking for to be happy? Everything is already here. We do not need to put an object in front of us to run after, believing that until we get it, we cannot be happy. That object is always in the future, and we can never catch up to it. We are already in the Pure Land. We are already a Buddha. We only need to wake up and realize we are already here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I moved to Colombia to travel and teach English after College and didn't know anyone and so a co-worker of mine told me that no matter how comfortable you are in a foreign land exploring, everyone needs friends. And so I was introduced to the most amiable social network and wondered why I had never joined sooner.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had a few experiences surfing because I usually don't plan in advance and people tend to be busy. So word of advice...plan at least a few days in advance, not two days asking for a couch. Nonetheless, CS overall has been the most amazing thing I have been a part of. Meeting people and sharing world views. A read a quote that said, "to travel is to learn that everyone is wrong about each other's country." This is so true and you don't necessarily have to travel to learn when you can meet great people everyday through CS and learn from them.

101 Things I learned in Architecture School,The Fountainhead, The Great Gatsby and All the Places you Will go By Dr. Seuss.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think what I find amazing everyday is the unextraordinary things that we constantly take for granted. That we don't have to go far or go out of our way to do somehing that is considered "amazing." It's all perspective.

Teach, Learn, Share

It's a bit limiting to name just a few things that I would like to learn...there are so many things! For starters, to whistle...and the list goes all the way to learn how to fly a plane. As for teaching, I guesss I can give you a few pointers in teaching English as a second language(and dealing with children), yoga, and my opinions on architecture.
