About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Be a traveler of life, not a tourist.
ABOUT ME
Serotonin is what I need the most. Let it be good music, dark chocolate or a bit more sunshine than I usually get.
PHILOSOPHY
It's not famous monuments and Hop-on-hop-off buses that make a trip unforgettable. It's random conversations with a ticket seller or a couple in cafe, getting lost in a country whose language you don't know or taking a bus in the wrong direction and discovering a whole new city, that do.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
This "How I participate" part confuses me, to be honest, so, forgive me, if I'm doing this wrong. As for couch, hanging out in Edinburgh and a great traveler to your place, that's how I participate.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Me and 3 of my friends went to Stockholm this March, and Piyush granted me the best possible beginning for my CS experience! I have also travelled to Tallinn, Estonia and stayed with a CS and shown Riga to Olya from Russia. Still waiting for the first surfer to be hosted!
Interests
Travelling (no way!) by taking detours rather than jumping straight in the touristy stuff. I love taking photos and having intelligent conversations about silly things.. and the other way round.

Music, Movies, and Books
Judging from my iPod library, I like everything from Lowkey to Christina Aguilera. Though, it's RHCP, Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, Angus & Julia Stone, Foals, Badly Drawn Boy, The Naked & Famous, the Black Seeds, the Black Keys, Foster the People, the Decembrists, Beirut, Ewert And The Two Dragons and everything in between.
If I had more time to read things I actually like, the list would be longer, but for now it's Scar Tissue, Cat's Cradle, Losing my Virginity and, of course, HP.
The best movies are those based on real stories. Into the Wild, A Beautiful Mind, Nowhere Boy and more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
2010 - AFS school exchange program in New Zealand allowerd me to spend 6 amazing months in Mt Maunganui, Bay of Plenty. I not only learnt to surf and to drive on the wrong (sorry, left) side of the road, but met heaps of people from as many as 30 countries, realizing for the first time that I want to see more of the world before I have a dog, some children and husband's dirty socks to deal with. Cue to 2013 when I did a gap year in Chile with AFS as well!
Teach, Learn, Share
Even though you might think that Latvia doesn't have electricity and where-the-hell-in-Russia-is-it-anyway, I can tell you that my country is one of those still untouristy spots over-half covered in forests and possessing one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Riga is the 'capital' of Art Nouveau with a Medieval old city, heaps of distinct cafe's and bars, waiting for you.
