Hi! I am Femke, a 30-year old girl, enjoying life in the surroundings of Amsterdam where I live. I am studying again - my goal is to get a teaching degree in Spanish - and I have two jobs, both in the educational field. Besides working I love spending time with friends and family, playing games, watching and playing theatre (I have a taste for improv), visiting cafés and museums, reading, writing, dancing, singing, cooking... and travelling of course!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I think the best way to get to know a culture and improve my linguistic skills is from the inside out. I like to meet new people and see what life is like from their perspective, especially if they are able to tell me more about the best places to be in their home town.

Music, Movies, and Books

World literature - usually reading two at the samen time - arthouse movies (I love Almodóvar, and everything that hosts Ryan Gosling), poetry. Music totally depends on my mood.... from Juan Luis Guerra, Wisin y Yandell to First Aid Kit, street artists, Kygo, Worakls, Vivaldi and... opera. Flamenco is always a hit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think it is pretty amazing to start teaching Spanish to kids without actually having a teaching degree. Besides, I loved travelling by myself, to Indonesia and Latin America.
