ABOUT ME

I'm a film enthusiast, photography hobbyist and lifelong learner with a chronic case of wanderlust. I love Toronto and I think it will always be home base, but at the same time I hope to see as much of the world as humanly possible, experience all kinds of cultures, challenge myself in a variety ways and meet remarkable people like you along the way:)

Random things about me: One of my all-time favourite pastimes is to meet and spend time with people who inspire me, but I don't actually want to be them. I think this is a good thing;) I am very easily amused. (also a very good thing!) I'm an optimistic realist. I feel incredibly grateful for the life I have and the amazing people in it.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm pretty new to CouchSurfing but I'm very very excited about the possibility of meeting new people through CS and I hope to be able to return the favour of hosting when I have my own place again. That might not be for some time, but at the very least, I look forward to meeting fellow CSers for coffee or any other kind of bevy when I'm back in Toronto.

Interests

Favourite pastimes include: navigating foreign streets, dreaming of new far-off lands to visit, listening to CBC radio and NPR's This American Life, eating Vanilla Caramel Latte Haagan Daaz ice cream, scouring vintage stores, going to comedy shows, Sunday brunch-ing, snapping photos, double features, listening and (hopefully!) providing meaningful feedback, and generally having a laugh.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Running in the Family, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, In the Skin of a Lion, On the Road, The Chronicles of Narnia, Veronica Decides to Die, In a Sunburned Country, The Odyssey.

Movies: Labyrinth (all-time favourite movie since childhood! David Bowie, Jim Henson and Jennifer Connelly truly are the dream team!). Other than that it starts to get tough, I'm attached to too many of them. Ones that I tend to revisit...The Philadelphia Story, Across the Universe, Annie Hall, La Haine, Network, Encounters at the End of the World, Benny & Joon, Once, The Breakfast Club.

Shows: Mad Men, 30 Rock, The Long Way Round, Californication, Glee, Grey's Anatomy, True Blood, Six Feet Under, Sex and the City (before the movies ruined it for everyone).

Music: Always on my playlist...The Beatles, The Swell Season, Arcade Fire, Leonard Cohen, Ben Harper, Feist, M.I.A., The Rolling Stones, Paul Simon. Currently digging... Adele, Robyn, Mumford & Sons, The National, Beirut, Bon Iver.
