About Me

I've been working for the police in various positions from riot over dispatch to finally becoming an instructor. Especially the latter gave me lots of job satisfaction since it allows me to use my creativity and my positive vibes in order to help my fellow officers achieve their goals.

Since I already joined at age 19 when everybody else went mango picking in Australia, I felt the need to get travelling for a longer period of time as long as I still feel young enough to endure the occasional 8-bed-dorm. So I filed for some unpaid leave until December 1st, and converted that to 20h/week from August.

I did some travelling and eventually got a job at Whistler Blackcomb as a bike rental technician. After two months I went back to Europe to explore the European Alps. Currently, I'm im Austria enjoying the mountains and trying to get to know or southern neighbors.

I must admit a certain passion for consumer electronics, so if you have a TV with a HDMI cable, I am happy to serve you a beating in Mario Kart Switch.

Also, I cannot deny browsing 9gag daily, so if you are a memelord, we will probably get along pretty well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Provided your social battery has some life left in it, CS is obviously a very good way to not just pass by a place but to take a deep dive into the realities of people from faraway places and make some awesome new friends.

Interests

I've really gotten into mountainbiking the last few years. So much so, that I took the opportunity to get a working holiday visa in the only country that would issue me one at my age which happened to be Canada, the capital of mountain biking. Also I took an instructor course, so if you would like to learn your first steps on a mountainbike, I will be happy to help you.

But of course I like other types of riding and other types of outdoor activity, too: I just discovered via ferrata, got me my own kit and hit a C/D which was scary at times but overall big fun =)

Music, Movies, and Books

Metalcore is my all-time favorite genre. Of course you can also catch me with some less brutal tracks, for instance some mean, smart and funny hip hop, maybe written by the Great Poets of our times like Mehnersmoos, KIZ, Alligatoah and so on.

You could sum up my musical taste with the well-known german term "Menschenverachtende Untergrundmusik".

Oh well, but still nothing can be said against classics from the 90s, Irish Traditionals or everything on Bremen 1 ot NDR1 which are our local boomer radio stations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A four-week-trip to the US, including a two-week-internship where I was treated like family.

Also, hosting a Spanish colleague during the German leg of the exchange.

Working in a bike shop in Whistler

Being a sports guide for a youth travel company

be the travel host for a skiing trip

Teach, Learn, Share

Consider carefully if you have social battery left for a CS trip or if a hostel or hotel might not be better for you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Washing dishes, tidying up, getting breakfast, all that good stuff that you can do to make your host's life a little easier.

Also, I like to fix bikes a lot, so if you run into any troubles, I might be able to give you a hand. If you tell me beforehand, I might even bring tools and parts.

Also, if you want some mountainbike, shooting, first aid, self defence or driving lessons, I am happy to instruct you.
