About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy myself, be kind to others, learn as much as possible, and always remain open-minded.

ABOUT ME

Like most people on couchsurf, I am a friendly, open person, who enjoys meeting new people and learning new things. I moved to Los Angeles for college to see a different side of America after living my first 17 years in small town Texas. I am very laid back and easy-going, but am also driven to succeed in anything I participate in. I think couch surfing is big step in the right direction for improving our planet and represents the best possible qualities in people by promoting trust, hospitality, globalization, generosity, friendliness, and open-mindedness.

PHILOSOPHY

As long as you are helping to improve yourself and others mentally, emotionally, and physically then you are living the good life. I believe that if you are not harming anyone else, then you should be free to do what ever makes you happy. I believe it is extremely important to be friendly to strangers and smile and acknowledge people as you pass them. Simple kind words or gestures can make a big difference.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a full time job, so I am not able to do much traveling right now, but I would love to host anyone for a weekend or perhaps longer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In college a housemate was a couchsurfing host and I got to meet many surfers from around the world who would stay with us. Hearing their stories and plans made me an immediate couch surfing fan and I look forward to hearing from many more surfers in the future.

Interests

I love sports. I played football through college and basketball through high school. I still regularly play pick-up basketball and beach volleyball. I love music. One of my favorite feelings in the world is hearing a great new song for the first time. I love going to concerts and music festivals with friends and I admittedly sometimes listen to music obnoxiously loud when I am alone in my car. I love the outdoors, and sometimes will hop on my bike on the weekends and ride off with no plan in particular and be gone for the entire day. I love movies, I work at a movie trailer company as an associate producer and feel I have one of the best jobs in the world because I get paid to watch, discuss, and market the best films in the world. I also enjoy doing what I can to help others. In college I tutored at an elementary school, volunteered at a residential school for behaviorally challenged boys, and I am currently a part of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies and music, listing only a few of each is very difficult, but I will put a few down that give a good idea about myself.

The White Stripes, The Black Keys, Pink Floyd, Beastie Boys, Wu-Tang Clan, Fleet Foxes, Broken Bells, Bon Iver, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Coldplay, Red Hot chili Peppers, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Outkast, Michael Jackson.

Everything by Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson or The Cohen Brothers. Good Will Hunting, American Beauty, Up, Office Space, Coming To America, Shawshank Redemption, The Deer Hunter, Monty Python & The Holy Grail, The Graduate, Garden State, Snatch, Napoleon Dynamite.

I was an English major and thoroughly enjoyed reading many books and poems I came across in school (The Things They Carried, 1984, Beloved, Harry Potter series, Slaughter House Five, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock), but I don't read much anymore.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed and stood on top of a 140 ft mayan temple in Belize.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know enough to know that I know nothing. I am still in the learning phase of my life and want to experience and take in all that I can. I'm not a big talker because I would rather listen than speak. That said, I would love to share whatever I have gathered about life so far, but I can't think of anything right now.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belize, France, Italy, Mexico, Spain
