About Me

Hi!

My name is Dima and I live in Liège in the Belgian French-speaking region.

I'm eighteen years old and studying physics at Liège University. My mom comes from Belarus (Dima is a shortened form of Dmitri (but my name is Dima, not Dmitri)).

I'm a relatively tall guy, nice to others (I hope so at least), respectful and quite easy-going.

I can speak a few languages (or at least I try to):

- French (C2)
- English (I'd say I'm not bad, B2-C1 estimated level in 2015)
- Dutch (I have trouble understanding the accents from the Netherlands, qualified B1-3 - B2 by CERAN Lingua International)
- Spanish (It seems I have a B1 level based on a test but it seems a bit too high as I'm not good at listening)
- Russian (I spend a month in Belarus now and then but can't handle that grammar).

Feel free to talk to me if you have any questions about Belgium, Wallonia or more specifically Liège.

Have a nice day/evening!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Sadly I'm not able to welcome any couchsurfers as I'm currently living with my parents.

I signed to Couchsurfing because I'd like to plan a trip to North England this summer (probably Sheffield-Manchester-Liverpool) and it'd be a pleasure to discover this region and get to know people who live there and maybe welcome them back to my place when it's possible.

Interests

I like music, music, music and music.

I play the guitar and sing (I can handle a fews others stringed instruments too but I don't play them regularly (bass guitar, ukulele)) and I'm planning to pick up the drums quite soon.

Younger, I used to read a lot but nowadays I can't find the time to sit and read for hours ( I don't like dividing a book in too many parts, it makes me forget what I read).

Music, Movies, and Books

Huge fan of the Beatles and the Arctic Monkeys, I'm a rock aficionado more generally. I also like listening to classical music and jazz though I would not qualify myself as an expert.

My favourite books are 1984 by George Orwell (I've explored all kinds of feelings reading it) and George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire", more commonly known as the books which "Game of Thrones" is "based" on.

I'm quite a Star Wars fan (I'm an Empire kind of guy) and I currently follow the sixth season of AMC's "The Walking Dead" and "The Big Bang Theory" (physicist clichés, you are so true...).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's not really a thing I've litteraly done (I can't think of one), but seeing AC/DC live this year was truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my passion with you, jam a little if you're a musician too, teach you a few guitar basics if you're a total neophyte and just have a fun time.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My happy mood I guess, learn about each other culture, forge friendships
