About Me

Currently a master student of history from Ukraine who wishes to expand the borders of his personal world. Usually stoic, calm and a bit shy, but it's not uncommon to become talkative, sarcastic and bold in right situations (especially up if someone hit the right theme). Always pondering about my own way of life, and communicating with other people gives me inspiration and a room for personal growth. The same way, I hope I can inspire people around me as well. The mutual benefit is the best part of human relationships, after all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For quite a long time, I was a stay-at-home type of person and sometimes I still have such notions, but now I strive to explore different kinds of places I've never seen before. The same can be said about meeting new personalities. Although my CS experiences have just begun, I'm looking forward to catching up to the others.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's always been hard for me to define the favourite music, since my insterests there are quite scarce. They can range from pop music like Linkin Park or Twenty One Pilots to classics (Bach, Vivaldi, Wagner) or even soundtracks from the movies/TV shows. Let's say my own intuition picks up the favourites.
Movie interests are more precise, but also include a wide range of genres: fantasy (Lord of the Rings being the classics for me), sci-fi (Alien and Predator franchises, Men in Black), historical drama (Darkest Hour, Imitation Game), thrillers (Now You See Me, Ocean's Eleven) etc. Cannot avoid mentioning I'm a big fan of superhero movies, especially those of Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Regarding the books, recently, I've discovered for myself Stephen King (It) and Lovecraft. Currently, I try to explore the franchise of Sapkowski's Witcher. In addition, I read quite a lot of historical literatire, although it's not really a thrill compared to the fiction. My interests also include Ukrainian (Shevchenko) and Russian (Bulgakov) authors. I hope they will later include classic writers like Remark and Orwell since I'm yet to see them through. Plus, it's worth noting that I'm quite fond of Arthur Conan Doyle's works of Sherlock Holmes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm not sure I can narrow down the most amazing thing among the myriade of past events. But let's say there was one special thing. At one point, I had to start my live from the scratch, and it's amazing enough for me that it becomes more shining and diverse than before.

Actually, I do remember at least one incomparable experience that happened during my first trip abroad in the Budapest. The way there was quite depressing, since the customs control wouldn't let us go. However, when I saw Margit Bridge across the Danube illuminated in the twilight, I immediately forgot about everything else. There is no way I'll forget the shining fascination of mine I felt back then.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to learn more about culture and everyday life of regular citizens in different regions, as well as share my own life experience. I'm convinced there are thousands of everyday details only the locals and experienced travellers can know about. The same goes with language practice. I hope I can both hone my own language skills and help others to develop it
