About Me

Hey there! I'm Dimas, an easygoing and open-minded guy based in Jakarta. I’m passionate about history, fitness, and running, and I love exchanging ideas with people from different cultures. I enjoy deep conversations just as much as lighthearted chats over good food.

I work in event organizing and heritage tourism, so if you’re into cultural experiences, we’ll get along great! I also have a personal goal of staying fit and exploring the world one step at a time—literally, as I’m training for my next half marathon.

I’ve recently moved to Jakarta and decided to get back into Couchsurfing! I live alone in a 2-bedroom apartment, and I figured—why not use my extra space to host travelers? My place is perfect for short transits (2-3 days) since it’s in a strategic location with easy access to public transport, including buses, trains, and even a direct airport connection.

If you’re looking for a chill place to stay, need local travel tips, or just want to hang out and swap stories, hit me up!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe traveling is more than just visiting new places—it's about the people you meet along the way. I love exchanging stories, learning new perspectives, and helping others experience my city in a unique way. I also enjoy giving travelers a sense of home while they’re far away from theirs.

Music, Movies, and Books

🎵 Music
I’m into Trance, House, Jazz, Lounge, and Bossa. Love the energy of electronic beats but also enjoy the chill vibes of jazz and bossa when I need to unwind. Got any cool recommendations?

I also occasionally enjoy rock, and lately, I’ve been really into Japanese City Pop—artists like Tatsuro Yamashita and Mariya Takeuchi bring such a nostalgic yet timeless vibe.

Surprisingly, I still enjoy some new music that reminds me of old-school sounds—like how Sabrina Carpenter gives off a similar feel to The Cardigans. Always on the lookout for music that blends classic and modern styles! 🎶

🎬 Movies
I’m a huge Star Wars fan. Not really into Star Trek or Marvel, sorry! But strangely enough, I enjoy watching family drama—one of my favorite movies of all time is The Judge. Something about the complex relationships and emotional depth just hits differently.

📚 Books
I love reading about history, business, biographies, culture, and mindfulness. Learning from past events and great minds is something I enjoy. What’s a book that changed your perspective on life?

One of my latest favorites is Jakarta Method. I actually read books like these not just to expand my knowledge but also as a reference for my storytelling. Plus, books help me connect with people from all around the world, bridging different perspectives through shared narratives.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If I may, I might write two amazing things that I've done in my life:

Creating Heritage & Cultural Experiences
I’ve helped organize unique cultural and heritage tourism experiences, connecting people with history in a fun and engaging way. Seeing travelers get excited about the stories behind places is one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done!

Running & Fitness Transformation
I went from 95kg to 75kg through discipline, training, and lifestyle changes, and now I’m working towards my half-marathon goals. It’s amazing to see how far I’ve come, and I’d love to share that journey with others!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I love discovering cool spots and hidden gems—not just the touristy places, but the ones with a unique story or vibe. If you’re looking for underrated spots in Jakarta, I can point you in the right direction (or maybe we can check them out together!).

I’m also into fitness and running, so if you need a workout buddy or just wanna burn off all that street food, let’s hit the gym or go for a run! 💪🏃‍♂️

And of course, I’m always up for good convos—whether it’s about music, travel stories, or just random life experiences. Got any cool travel hacks or wild stories from your trips? Let’s exchange! 🚀

Learn:
I love learning about different cultures, new perspectives, and unique personal experiences. Whether it’s about your hometown, your favorite traditions, or life lessons you’ve picked up along the way, I’m all ears.

Also, if you know any cool music recommendations (especially in the City Pop or jazz/lounge genre), I’m always looking to expand my playlist! 🎵

Share:
I enjoy deep conversations about life, self-growth, and how people navigate their journeys. I believe that every interaction can teach us something, and I’m always open to meaningful exchanges. Also, if you need local travel tips for Jakarta (or even help planning your next destination), I’d be happy to help!

What I Can Share with Hosts

🔹 Good Conversations & Stories
I love exchanging thoughts on history, culture, business, and personal growth. Whether it's deep conversations about life or just casual chats over coffee, I always enjoy learning from different perspectives.

🔹 Local Travel Tips & Hidden Gems

🔹 Music & Film Recommendations
I’m a huge Star Wars fan (sorry, not a Marvel or Star Trek guy 😆) and love discovering music that blends classic and modern sounds. Lately, I’ve been into Japanese City Pop, but I’m always open to exploring new artists and genres!

I enjoy good food and would love to explore local dining spots together. If you have a favorite place, let’s check it out!
