ABOUT ME
Friends say I'm quiet, smart, articulate, courteous, thoughtful, and shy until I get to know you. I can be very serious or silly/playful. I am laid-back,trustworthy and loyal, and appreciate people who are likewise.
I look younger than my chronological years, am athletic, adventuresome, and enjoy nature and the outdoors. I'm an animal lover, and I love cats in particular.
Since I've traveled a lot, I'm very adaptable to new situations and can orient myself quickly. I have no car, but just give me a bus system map and see how quickly I figure a city out!!
P.S. My membername is a phonetic pronunciation of my Latvian name Daina, pronounced Di-nah.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a Christian, and my faith is important to me but I am not pushy in my beliefs. Usually I attend a local chapter of the United Methodist Church, but more important to me is the sense of warmth and welcome in any church.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By traveling and staying with hosts, I gain a better idea of what that particular part of the country has to offer. Besides, it's nice to feel welcomed and made to feel at home when you are out alone in the world!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In various cities such as Worcester, MA, Newport, RI, and New Orleans, LA
Intereses
One of my absolute favorite things to do is to play the piano. It is creative and soothing, and listeners tell me they find it relaxing. Besides classical music, I listen to pop music from the 60s and 70s. I read constantly and work out at the YMCA for exercise. I'm not a strict vegetarian (I eat fish), but I eat healthy as possible, nommeat. I'm always up for a cup of coffee!

Música, películas y libros
Favorite classical music: Puccini, Mozart, Bach, Rimsky-Korsakoff, Tchaikovsky, in no particular order! I read mostly fiction or mysteries. Recent movies I've seen include "Far from the Madding Crowd" (both the 1967 movie and the 1998 mini-series).
Algo increíble que he hecho
Since 2008 I've been traveling around the United States, beginning with Indianapolis, Indiana, where I lived a big chunk of my life, first heading southwest, northwest, deep south, Tennessee for a while, then west again, finally in 2010 landing in Des Moines Iowa, where I lived for six years. In 2015 I launched out to Boulder, CO, Spokane, WA, and Eugene, Oregon.
2017 finds me headed to New England where I hope to live and explore for a long while.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
Since I grew up with Latvian parents in the U.S., I know what it is like to have a dual identity. I can emphasize with people who feel like outsiders or have had a difficult childhood. It's taken me a long time to feel comfortable in my own skin.
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
Appreciation of the positive impact music can have on one's heart, soul and mind, especially if you struggle with a mental illness, like I have (depression). If I can actually play the piano for you, that works best!
