I get a kick out of exploring, and maybe even more so helping other people explore. I'm known by all for being curious and knowledgeable about my surroundings and thus always a great local tourguide. If it's in the area and interesting, I know about it.

ABOUT ME

I define myself by my love of learning. I am open and interested in any experience and any person. The world is filled with wonder and I'd love to sample as much as I can.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm adventurous and love meeting people. I'm big on self-exploration and discovery and will try anything. I particularly like stopping on a whim for sights or food. I'm not big on shopping or resorts or packages, but am open to any unique affordable experience.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Host and surfer. I'm guaranteed to show you a good time if you come to Portland and stay with me! I'm also quite the amateur tourguide and itinerary creator. Please feel free to ask me for advice and recommendations. I love to help other people enjoy the area!

I'm particularly knowledgeable about bars, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, 'main' attractions (museums, gardens, sites, etc.), 'quirky' attractions (arcades, hottubs, tours, sampling, etc.), and in-the-city and around-Portland outdoor adventures.

I know of but can point you in the right direction of shopping (and I DO know about outdoor gear shops and other specialty stuff like home-brewing) but don't have intimate experience with shopping.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with several wonderful hosts while on a trip to Maui in 2011. I have hosted several surfers on their way through Portland. I am looking for more of both.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have served the poorest of the poor in Calcutta, India, lived and traveled for three years in Japan, SCUBAed in Malaysia, played rugby in Northern Ireland, relaxed in Thailand, served at a repurposed temple in Kathmandu, snorkeled with turtles and rays in Maui and dolphins in Honduras, and summited volcanoes and craggy peaks in the Pacific NorthWest.
