About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Making the world a better place for queers and dinosaurs.
ABOUT ME
We are both friendly, welcoming, funny, creative, and community-oriented. We both volunteer at Rock Camp For Girls in the summers and haven't had enough time for Queers for Economic Justice which we used to be involved in. We like to go to shows and readings, meet people, hang out with friends, involve ourselves in various local happenings, and eat vegetables. Neither of us are big partiers, but we do go out dancing occasionally. We can definitely recommend a some good queer clubs, parties, and shows for most weekends. We like to read a LOT of books, write, and mostly avoid TV (except for Glee on Hulu...) Oh, and we just got gay married!
We are committed to making Couchsurfing safer and more queer-inclusive.
PHILOSOPHY
We're pretty much about community, friendships, respect, and equal rights. We're mildly Jewish, but not so that you would notice. =)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have hosted a LOT in the past but have only surfed a few times.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hosting has been a great way to meet like-minded people, as well as learn about other cultures and share different experiences with people from all over the world. We have met some close friends through CS who we still keep in touch with on the internet. There has only been one really awful hosting experience, you can find the reference from it in our references.
The CS groups have so far been a good source of information and a good way to stay connected. I don't keep track of them much so I don't have too much to say about them.
My experience with an NYC Couchsurfing meetup has not been good. There have been some weird and uncomfortable encounters and I felt like the space was heterosexist and not welcoming for queer folks. However, the queer CS groups have been great!
